More incremental advances from #Ukraine in both #Luhansk and #Kherson regions and more likely today.
@TheStudyofWar says the #Kharkiv advance has not yet culminated. Indeed, I think we could well see #Svatove attacked and possibly liberated in the next 24 hours.
Contrasting reports in #Odesa.
Some say air defence has protected the city, but others report multiple items hitting #Odessa.
It does seem as if #Iran's kamikaze drones may have penetrated. Russians claim they've hit the Operational Command HQ of the South Unit.
There is reported to be a big explosion in #Nikopol also tonight.
In recent months the #Ukraine held town, just over the river from the Nuclear Plant at #Enerhodar, has been one of the heaviest hit in the whole of the country.
Also noisy in #Kherson oblast with #Ukraine hitting the invaders.
A former boarding school reported to have been hit in the city - likely a base for #Russia's troops.
In addition a military warehouse in #NovaKakhovka has been hit (unconfirmed)
Definitely no panic😉
Thank you Michael Bruk in Illinois, who is by far the biggest supporter of our campaign to raise money for winter gear for #Ukraine's army (see pinned tweet).
He's just donated another £400 - magnificent!
See my pinned tweet or earlier in this thread for details/link
Another "unfortunate" derailing in a city in #Russia known to have a strong rebellious streak!
This is #Yekaterinburg#EKB - lines blocked for quite a while after this 'accident' yesterday.
Video of the site where civilians were trapped under rubble. #StandWithUkraine️
Sometimes you just have to shake your head in pity.
To try to emphasise his point Elon Musk chooses to show a map from 10 years ago, before #Russia had invaded(twice), held 5 'referenda' at gunpoint /, caused 100,000+ needless deaths.
Wow guys, great work.
My fundraiser sailed way over £4,000 overnight and this morning thanks to regular donations.
Thanks to Irina, Maggie, Joris, Thomas and extra 💙💛for David, Richard and Constance for incredible generosity to help #Ukraine's brave soldiers.
(see pinned tweet)
#Ukraine's National Security Secretary, Oleksiy Danilov, claims twice as many people are fleeing #Russia as being call-up since mobilsation began.
"We know the number of citizens of conscription age who left the Russian Federation is twice the number of those mobilised."
#Russia fired 2 rockets into the region. One fell near an infrastructure object in the Shepetivskyi district. Another landed in wasteland. Authorities report no injuries.
Another body has been found and recovered from the rubble of the apartment block in #Zaporizhzhia which was destroyed by #Russia's strikes early this morning.
A number of strikes today, including on the #Antonivskyi bridge again, in the town of #Oleshky and here another boarding school suspected to be used as a base by the occupiers.
Wow. One of the most hated figures for Ukrainians since 1st Russian invasion in 2014 was "Motorola"
Portrayed a 'local' hero by pro-Russians, the reality is he's from 2400km away.
Killed in 2016, today a memorial in his home city of #Ukhta was vandalised
Claims tonight that #Russia is using chemical weapons in #Kherson oblast. The video allegedly shows soldiers affected by the pesticide Chloropicrin, with eyes bleeding.
However, I have to say the video doesn't look convincing to me, could be a fake?

Following Boxing's Governing Body taking the incredulous decision to readmit fighters from #Russia and #Belarus, the sport could be heading for a split.
#Sweden outright refuses to attend any tournament featuring boxers from 🇷🇺or🇧🇾. The next event is in Montenegro next week!
Apologies again for slow updates and responses, I am commentating on tennis most of the day again.
Doing my best!
The daily British Intel update shows why #Russia is continuing to panic. There's quite widespread acknowledgement in the Russian media now that #Ukraine has made advances, increasing the realisation that mobilisation will spread and the war will now touch most people's lives
Welcome to the daily news thread for 3 October.
Day 222 (Richie Benaud day?) of #Ukraine's defence of its homeland against the full scale invasion by Putin's #Russia
For a catch up on yesterday's here's the start of Sunday's thread for you to scroll thru:
Yesterday I wrote about two horrific and needless land mine tragedies & already two more today in #Kharkiv oblast.
Regional Gov Oleh Synyehubov says an ambulance driver was killed and a paramedic injured near #Balakliia, while another 26yo man was wounded in a separate incident.
As I suspected, #Russia's losses subsided a little in the last 24 hours. That's directly due to the invaders' retreat from #Lyman.
Late last night #Russia predictably used its veto in the @UN Security Council vote, proving again the UN is useless. Despite condemnation of Russia by the UN leader, the Kremlin can simply avoid punishment.
China, Brazil, India and Gabon abstained. The others voted in favour.
The near siege of #Lyman continues.
While #Russia tries to bring in reserves, there have been unverified reports and videos of its troops fleeing the cauldron.
During the night it seems #Ukraine has been striking #Kreminna, the Russians' escape/reinforcement route.
