Welcome to yet another daily thread as #Ukraine moves one day nearer victory in its bid to liberate its land from #Russia's illegal invasion.
We've reached Day 316. All the news updated here throughout the day, so come back and scroll through later.
DMs open for tip-offs.💙💛
Wednesday ended in lively fashion after a quiet day. If you missed anything, the big news was from #Crimea where explosions/air defence were reported in two separate towns.
Let's start the thread with a chuckle, with this scene from Kazakhstan according to the poster on Telegram.
A middle aged woman telling a couple of guys from #Russia exactly what she thinks!
"Putin is a d*ckhead. #Ukraine will win. All Kazakhstan hates you!"
At Wednesday evening I reported on a couple of incidents on #Crimea.
One looked like a drone hitting the ground, the other was this blast and fire near #Sevastopol. Occupiers say a gas cylinder exploded, one person died.
It's been claimed by #Ukraine that in a five-hour window yesterday one air defence team in "the east" shot down one Russian Su-25 fighter jet, one UAV and a Ka-52 attack helicopter.
Eith #Russia's troops running scared of large groups in the #Donbas, some collaborators in #Luhansk region have started letting Putin's troops stay with them in their houses.
This is reported to be happening in Bilovodsk, just 20km from the border with Russia, and other villages
Credible reports of forward movement for #Ukraine's army on the frontline in #Donetsk oblast.
It appears as though Russian positions have been forced back in the town of #Marinka, which is effectively the western tip of the #Donetsk conurbation. Fighting continues in the centre.
Pavlo Kyrylenko claims #Russia's been pushed out of the town completely.
The invaders continue to shell the ruins of the town.
This AZOV video shows fighting on the outskirts. Date unknown.
Further to the last tweet about #Bakhmut, I cannot trace the exact quote from Kyrylenko myself yet.
So this is still unconfirmed as far as I am concerned.
The last confirmed situation was that #Russia continued to try to contain then surround #Ukraine's forces in the city.
In occupied #Melitopol' long queues form to try to get the suddenly mandatory pass needed to drive from one district to another.
#Russia's invaders are increasingly paranoid and trying to effectively lockdown all citizens to prevent sabotage attacks by partisans.
A suspicious package has been delivered to #Russia's embassy in #Latvia's capital.
An unknown substance was found inside the package and it is now being examined by scientists in #Riga.
A 64 year old man injured in shelling of #Nikopol yesterday, has died of his injuries.
The town was shelled in the evening and again during the night. At least 30 shells landed this time, damaging several private and commercial buildings, as well as power lines. #StopRussia
Thank you Sandra💙💛 for the kind words and the coffee donation. You made my morning - I wish you a nice day!
Wow. Over 800 Russian troops met their end in the last 24 hours*
Severe, instance justice for invading a neighbour illegally.
Also a fair smattering of destroyed equipment, including the plane and 'chopper' I revealed earlier in today's thread.
After numerous strikes on #Russia's positions, including #Wagner's mercenaries, it comes as no surprise to see Prigozhin and the Terrorist State's media release a video, supposedly showing Wagnerites who completed their contract.
They may well be actors trying to prove some live
#Russia relocating its long-range bombers after attacks by #Ukraine "will add additional maintenance stress and will further deplete the limited flying hours available on these ageing aircraft."
(Why does UK MoD use US spelling 'aging'?)
Something is/was flying over #Makiivka in the Occupied zone.
Thank goodness @JoeBiden isn't fooled as easily as many. These words are spot-on:
"I’m reluctant to respond to anything #Putin says.
I found it interesting. He was ready to bomb hospitals, nurseries and churches on the 25th and New Year.
I think he’s trying to find some oxygen"
#Ukraine's Defence Minister is a little more forthright with his opinions of the cynical "ceasefire" proposed by the Terrorist State:
President @ZelenskyyUa has so far made no direct comment but he's been busy with calls to no fewer than 4 leaders today: Croatia, Latvia, Spain & Turkiye
But the President's Office issued this entirely valid statement on the "ceasefire"
Still no Leopards from Germany but seems Scholz feels forced to change course a little.
After #France promised tanks and #USA is also new armoured machines, @SPIEGEL_English reports Berlin may give #Ukraine 20+ Marder infantry fighting vehicles, previously only given to NATO.
UPDATE on previous tweet:
#Germany will supply Marders AND also #Patriot Air Defence systems!
Another massive blow struck on #Russia's troops in Occupied #Ukraine
Just 10 miles from the border with #Crimea in #Kherson oblast Ukraine officials say they've hit another huge base where over 1,000 invaders were gathered at Harylivka Druha
20 officers among the casualties.

This is the start of Wednesday's thread on the #RussiaUkraineWar and all the news around it.
The only place you need to look for all the essential information, updated continuously.
It's Day 315 of #Russia's illegal war. To catch up on yesterday, click:
I've had no direct update from eastern front, but gathering intel from various most reliable sources, it appears #Russia gained a little ground on the outskirts of #Soledar + #Bakhmut also, but have failed to get to the residential area which they briefly managed a while ago.
Thanks for joining me for another daily thread with all the important news surrounding the nations and Putin's illegal conflict.
Monday starts with many Ukrainians still under air raid warnings, but Russia looks to be hit too...
A flurry of activity towards the end of yesterday's thread as #Russia once again sent waves of drones into #Ukraine, again mainly heading for the capital.
Catch up on the whole day's events here by clicking and scrolling though:
The current threat seems to be dissipating. In some regions the all clear has been sounded, but not yet in #Kyiv. But the capital's air defence has shot down 10 attack drones so far tonight.
Different year, same story as #Russia's terrorism continued right through the new year, but lucky for you my daily threads continue to document the terror and war crimes.
It's already been a terrible start to the day
So much happened in the last hour of 2022 as attacks intensify over #Kyiv. Earlier there was another massive missile attack.
If you missed anything, check out yesterday's thread right here:
So we bid farewell to 2022
A year etched into the history books as the start of #Russia's illegal war in #Ukraine.
This is my daily thread number 311. Updating the news concerning the war in real time 24/7 each day.
Please share, spread the word and support!
I want to say thank you to everyone who's supported me in 2022, whether it's with words of encouragement, tip-offs, donations to my fundraiser or buying me a coffee.
I have tried to answer all comments and questions (tho some don't show up from time to time) and DMs remain open.
I didn't post much on the thread yesterday evening as it was quiet and remains so for the first 4.5 hours of Saturday in #Ukraine so far.
Here's the link for the start of yesterday's thread. If you missed anything you can scroll though:
The air raid still active right now is due to a couple of suspected kamikaze drones in #Kyiv oblast.
The Head of the region Oleksiy Kuleba says air defence is working, but one UAV is still thought to be active as they followed the river Dnipro towards the capital.
This looks like a photo from another world.
It's #Opytne, a small village on the southern outskirts of #Bakhmut.
There's still little change on the frontline here, though #Russia may be making ground in #Soledar after repeated attacks with #Wagner convicts.
