Lützerath lives! The world is watching and fighting for #climatejustice!

The village of #Lützerath, in Germany has become a crystallization point in the global fight against coal and other #fossilfuels.

(2/9) It is on the brink of the biggest coal mines in Europe which are owned by the biggest #CO2 emitter in Europe, the fossil fuel megacompany #RWE.

(3/9) The village was occupied by climate activists for 2,5 years to stop RWE from digging the coal under Lützerath in solidarity with the fights of indigenous and most affected people in the #GlobalSouth

(4/9) which have been suffering and fighting against colonial and capitalist exploitaition for over 500 years. Studies have shown, that the combustion of the coal around and under Lützerath will lead to the tresspassing of the #ParisAgreement, therefore the 1,5 degree limit.

(5/9) Already 1,2 degree #globalwarming is hell for people in the global south - we need a coal phase out now.

Still, the german government and police have decided to evict Lützerath with massive #policeviolence. We were beaten and our lives were put in danger.

(6/9) But in the Global South climate activists face death threats and get murdered for their work. Therefore it is our priviledge and duty to fight the climate catastrophe here, were it has been made, in the #GlobalNorth.

(7/9) As Lützi is demolished now, the solidarity of the international community grows. We know now better than ever, that the reigning governments won't do the action we need to stop #climatecollapse. We know, that we will bring the change ourselves, when we organise ourselves.

(8/9) We are growing and spreading out like seeds and will blossom at the places we go next. #LuetzerathLebt, the fight against fossil fuels lives!
