Thursday 26 January starts with millions in #Ukraine sheltering in bunkers, as waves of drones have been threatening the country and now #Kyiv is under threat
This is the daily thread with all the news, updated throughout each & every day...
So much news yesterday afternoon and evening.
Firstly the tank-coalition news then the angry reply from #Russia.
To glance through anything you may have missed, just click and scroll Wednesday's thread here:
Anger in #Germany tonight over Spiegel/ZDF reporting a 🇩🇪 comany probably supplied fuel which helped #Russia's jets bomb #Dnipro 12 days ago, when nearly 50 citizens were killed.
They say Wintershell Dea, via a joint venture with Gazprom, supplied paraffin for many attacks.
1/2 Wow, video of an explosion from somewhere in #Kyiv
In the next tweet I'll post individual frames of the video to show more clearly what's happened.
2/2 So here are the three key frames from the video.
There is a blast on the horizon.
Maybe unconnected, an air defence missile races close to the person filming.
The missile presumably hits a drone - and at low level by the look of it
The fear to me is that shortly before the previous mass cruise missile attack, #Russia launched attack drones on #Ukraine, presumably to identify air defence sites.
So there is an increased risk of a serious attack later today.
Thank you to "moot" who's bought me a coffee and sent me a nice message too, via the link on my profile page. One of my regular supporters.
I couldn't devote this much time without your support.

Proud to announce I've been invited on to a panel for a live online event due to be hosted by The @Independent next month. It's to mark the anniversary of the start of #Russia's illegal war.
More details in 3 weeks or so including registration details once everything is confirmed
After the drone was hit at low altitude in #Obukhiv, shrapnel damaged at least one apartment in the town south of #Kyiv.
The owner says one hole started burning, so they doused it with water.
Good news of what should be a chance to make #Russia pay for its terrorist attack on #MH17, the passenger airliner shot down over #Donetsk 8.5 years ago.
Finally #Kyiv can sleep. At quarter to four the all-clear sounds.
The air alarm was briefly switched off about 40 minutes ago, but was hastily switched back on with one of two more drones spotted, but they no longer pose a threat.
Britain again questions the battle-readiness of #Russia's new units.
#Kyiv's air defence meanwhile confirms 15 UAVs were shot down in the night.
As I wrote then, it was likely testing #Ukraine to reveal air defences. Many of #Russia's missiles flying now now will likely be trained on those air defences.
In #Odesa they say they've shot down one missile.
Unconfirmed.
This has been posted on a #Kyiv channel.
Unclear if it's a downed missile or not.
Unverified
A missile is confirmed to have hit in #Vinnytsia but the regional council says there are no injuries.
It's not been specified yet where in #Ukraine the 11 victims were killed, other than the two killed in separate strikes I wrote about earlier in the thread.
What is known is that 55 missiles were fired by #Russia and all but 8 were shot down.
Ivan Fedorov says locals have told him that soldiers with markings from #Vitebsk drove in to #Kyrylivka on the coast in #Zaporizhzhia region.
Fedorov thinks they'll claim to be members of a PMC.
Yesterday a camel bit a Russian to death.
Today news that a dog has killed another Russian.
But the husky didn't mess around with attacking or biting. This smart canine just shot the fisherman dead in #Tobolsk. His owner has been charged with the death due to negligence.
This is the daily news thread covering all the important bits of the conflict in one handy 🧵

Starting in traditional way with a chance for you to check back through yesterday, in case you missed Orban's undiplomatic words about #Ukraine, the latest big blaze in the series #RussiaOnFire or anything else during Friday.
Speaking about Orbán's stupid remarks, he's not alone in the region with #Russia also having culivated useful political idiots in #Croatia#Slovakia + #Czechia
Hopefully an election in 🇨🇿 today will sideline one more (Babiš) as @motytchak explains here:
Welcome to the daily news thread for Day 338 of the #RussianUkrainianWar, with all the important bits, hopefully some stories you won't see elsewhere and a bit of comment too as #Ukraine continues its heroic defence of freedom and democracy.
Read on...
Awful start to yesterday, but a quiet end to the day and still calm this Friday morning so far.
If you need to catch up on Thursday's events, here's the link to the start of yesterday's thread - scroll through at your leisure.
1/2 First let's update you on the territorial situation at the front. You probably know I seldom publish or link to maps; to be frank many are guesswork and often out of date.
The British MoD has validated my previous rebuttal of #Russia's claims of gains in #Zaporizhzhia oblast
Today it's Day 336 of #Russia's full invasion and war on #Ukraine.
It's also a special day for many people.
Burns' Night in #Scotland
St Dwynwen's Day for lovers in #Wales
While it's also the 45th birthday of @ZelenskyyUa - mnogo lita Mr President!
Here's the daily thread
@ZelenskyyUa It should also be a very special day for #Ukraine's military leaders with confirmation coming from #Germany and the #USA that the country's top fighting tanks are finally going to be given to the country.
The news leaked out y'day. Here's Tuesday's thread
It continues to be fairly quiet in #Ukraine with no major missile attack for 9 days and even mortar attacks are less frequent in some of the usual hotspots.
In #Sumy for instance 'just' 15 mortars in Novoslobidsk and Shalyhinsk was shelled with artillery just once.
No injuries.
