Happy Spring! Welcome to March.
Wednesday is day 371 of the war in #Ukraine.

#Russia's illegal onslaught continues, especially on the eastern front.

All the news in one handy thread.
Catch up on yesterday's developments here:

#Russia attacked #Ukraine with another small wave of drones last night.

There are no signs of damage, although Ukraine reports only shooting down five of the UAVs, all hit by air defence in #Poltava region.

#StopRussia
Meanwhile reports of explosions in occupied #Crimea.

There may have been two separate attacks on #Russia's invaders with chat sites full of messages asking what the loud bangs were.

No confirmation, but this is a good round up of what's known:

Thanks to Ali for spotting this large blaze in #Ulyanovsk

A car paint shop and service centre went up in smoke. The roof of the two-storey building soon collapsed.

40 employees evacuated the building with just two needing minor treatment for smoke inhalation.
#Ukraine didn't quite reach 150,000 dead Russian soldiers by the 1st of March.

The daily losses show 650 more invading cattle slaughtered and while that's well above the daily mean for the whole war, it continues to be much lower than recent highs.

Some (unconfirmed) reports in #Ukraine of a new threat to civilians - "magnetic" landmines.

It's actually the detonator which is magnetic. This supposedly means usual de-mining methods cannot be safely used.

#StopRussia ImageImage
The latest bizarre story from the Kremlin is that #Ukraine will secretly import radioactive substances using the "grain ports" near #Odesa and use the material to stage a "provocation" in #Moldova.

More concerning often what #Russia claims others will do is what it plans itself.
The Intel update from London focuses on #Russia's use of drones.

I think far more important is #Ukraine having to reveal air defences in tackling these "mopeds" and also potentially running down ammo stocks.

A large scale missile attack is now likely within 24 hours I think. Image

A private sawmill burns in the village of Vizinga in the #Komi Republic, which is in the north of #Russia.

Emergency services say the fire has now been controlled with 25 firefighters and 8 pieces of equipment tackling the flames.
Today sees the release of @Independent TV's new documentary, made by the excellent @Beltrew

"Body In The Woods" was premiered in #Kyiv at the weekend.

1/2 Remember these drones which crashed in #Belgorod?

I'm now calling this out as a provocation, i.e. #Russia firing on its own side to try to engender hatred of #Ukraine and justify retaliatory action.

I've come to that conclusion after the news this morning that each UAV had Image

.."makeshift IEDs" attached but mysteriously didn't explode.

#Ukraine has already shown it's capable of successfully attacking very long range military targets successfully. Now we're supposed to believe they couldn't fly a few kilometres and couldn't detonate explosives? Image
This is sick. A 12 year old girl is sent to an orphanage in #Russia and her single father arrested.
The 'crime'? The schoolgirl drew an anti war poster.

There can be no doubt that Russia is a fascist state.

#Finland's Parliament has ratified #NATO accession in an overwhelming vote.

184 agreed to joining the west's defensive alliance.
Now the President should sign the constitutional paperwork. Image
Yet another attempt to firebomb a military enlistment office in #Russia.

Last night a schoolboy threw Molotov cocktails at the building in Kirovsky district of Leningrad oblast. It was caught on camera - the video is here

There have been 70 such attacks

#Ukraine is not retreating from #Bakhmut

The defiant message is from Serhiy Cherevaty, spokesman of the Army's Eastern Group.

However he did admit "If we see that the threat to our personnel and our operational situation is greater than the need to hold the territory, we do it"
It's a year to the day that #Russia began its occupation of #Kherson. The city was liberated on 11 November.

But today, may be to mark the anniversary, a big increase in shelling. 3 people have been injured, including a one year old boy whose face was badly hit by flying glass.
#Serbia's President will arrest #Wagner volunteers from his country.

Aleksandar Vučić blasted “I don’t need Wagner’s support"
Serbs who’ve been recruited to fight in Ukraine “are going to be arrested when they come back to Serbia and within our reach."

Here's video of a strike thought to be on Russian occupiers in #Polohy. The small town is midway between #Zaporizhzhia and #Mariupol'

Looks like fuel is burning and maybe quite a bit extra too.

#StandWithUkraine #RussiansGoHome
Palestinians and Syrians are now being paid by #Russia to fight in #Ukraine.

#China aiding #Russia?
By helping Wagner they probably feel it's not directly aiding the state?

This company was added to the US Blacklist in January.

UPDATE

First photos from #Kremenchuk where missiles struck this evening. Yesterday multiple attack drones were shot down.

An infrastructure object as well as a private cottage were hit. There were no victims.

"For Tuapse" was written (the Russian oil refinery hit by a drone) ImageImage
I've now heard the very loud sound causing #Ukraine followers excitement in #Crimea.

Last night #Russia claimed it shot down 6 drones and 4 more were disabled with "electronic warfare".

Now RU bloggers claim this was just a sonic boom of their fighter jets taking off.
On the ruins of the apartment block in #Dnipro, where 45 residents were killed, a banner now hangs urging Russia to be "kicked out" of the #UN.

Here's the link to Friday's thread for you to catch up with anything you missed:

For most, it's all eyes on #Bakhmut' in Donetsk region.

Previously an insignifcant town probably fewer than 1% outside #Ukraine had heard of before #Russia's illegal invasion.

Here's the British assessment:

Welcome along to another daily thread, documenting all the news about #Russia's illegal invasion, aggression and war crimes in #Ukraine.

It's Day 373 of Putin's 10 day plan to take total control. All according to plan.

To review Thursday's news click⬇️

Firstly I'm sat in Manchester airport.
I am commentating on a Teqball tournament this weekend. That's great, and lucky for me, this one's in Dubai.
But it means I'll be incommunicado for around 8 hours today, so apologies for the coming "black-out". I will update this evening.
A good crop for #Ukraine in the last 24 hours...

Figures from #Kyiv show some promising figures.
765 more invaders killed and #Russia also lost both a plane and a helicopter yesterday.

Thursday 2 March - or Day 372 of #Russia's war of aggression against #Ukraine.

Here's yet another daily thread - I've been here since Day 1 with the news each and every day from a real Ukraine specialist.

If you want to support what I do, buy me a coffee via the link in my bio!
Let's start by offering a recap of yesterday's news.

You can click and scroll here if you missed anything from Wednesday.

#StandWithUkraine

2 nights ago explosions were reported on Russian territory. The Kremlin said loud sounds at #Yeisk airport, across the water from #Mariupol', were training exercises.

But satellite photos prove large scale fires, though it's not known if planes were hit:

We're into day 370 of #Russia's war on its peaceful neighbour.

#Ukraine continues its existential battle for existence, but it's tough right now in #Donetsk where Russia's army keeps missing deadlines, but hopes by tomorrow's start of spring to have results.

Here's the daily🧵
The day started well for #Ukraine with #Japan announcing more sanctions on #Russia.

39 individuals, 73 organisations and a bank are targeted as well as 9 collaborators from east and southern Ukraine are listed. Asset freezes may follow

#StandWithUkraine
mofa.go.jp/press/release/…
The Governor of #Russia's #Belgorod region claims 3 Ukraine drones were destroyed overnight.

Vyacheslav Gladkov says "wreckage of three unmanned aerial vehicles was found. There are no casualties, but there is damage: windows are broken, cars are slightly damaged."

Hello again. It's Day 369 of the war. #Russia's 10-day war on #Ukraine that is.

Hope your week starts well. It wasn't a great start for Ukrainians with a drone attack as the new week began, but as I write no feared cruise missile attack although there is a warning as I type...
Sunday proved to be quite a newsworthy day concerning #Ukraine, meaning more work for me, including a 4 page essay for Elon Musk - still no reply yet!

To see what you missed, take a scroll back through daily thread number 368 right here:

#StopRussia
Much lower losses again for #Russia in the figures published daily by #Ukraine.

Is it the weekend lag or a case of fewer suicidal waves of Russkiy lemmings trying to take #Bakhmut, #Vuhledar et al?

Looks pretty certain now to hit 150k dead soldiers on the first day of spring. Image

Day 368 of Europe's war and welcome to Sunday's daily thread with all the information you need in one handy🧵

It's still fairly quiet in most of #Ukraine as #Russia continues its illegal war.

Here's the link if you want to catch up on yesterday's events

The death of another American soldier has been confirmed in #Ukraine.

28-year-old Afghanistan veteran Andrew Peters from #Wisconsin died 10 days ago while helping Ukraine defend its territory. Andrew was part of the International Defence Legion.
📷Wisconson Public Radio
Each day #Ukraine releases figures for the numbers of Russian soldiers killed and equipment destroyed.

Invariably it's lower at weekends. So today's numbers (covering Saturday's losses) are lower across the board. I'm wondering if a couple of units don't report at weekends?
