Welcome along to my daily thread with everything you need to know about #Russia's illegal invasion of #Ukraine.

Wednesday is Day 427.
If you missed y'day's news, no fear, the link is here!

And what a day with loads of stories, particularly #RussiaOnFire

26 April is also the anniversary of the #Chornobyl #Chernobyl disaster in #Ukraine.

The repressive Soviet occupiers of the time refused to admit a problem and even forced kids in #Kyiv on to the streets a few days later for the MayDay parade.

Very little to report today on #Russia's losses of the last 24 hours (as estimated by #Ukraine)

Broadly in line with recent days.

#RussiansGoHome Image
#Zaporizhzhia was attacked by #Russia at night with no fewer than 67 strikes on communities there.

Regional Governor Yuriy Malashko says miraculously no residents were injured despite air strikes, missiles and shelling "of 19 peaceful communities."
The British update pretty much repeats what I've been writing about here the last few weeks:

#Bakhmut #SaveUkraine Image
In occupied #Melitopol' they are making a mural to Daria Dugina.

The daughter of a racist "politician", and also a propagandist herself, Dugina was murdered in a car bomb attack in #Russia.

#RussiansGoHome Image
Foreign Minister of #Czechia has called the Chair of the UN Security Council (Lavrov) "a clown"

Jan Lipavsky also condemned #Russia as a Terrorist State and its leaders should be in a war crimes tribunal:

Sorry it's been a while since any updates. I've had a chaotic morning of tennis commentaries and changes.

One significant development is direct talks between the Presidents of #Ukraine and #China.

More incessant attacks on #Kherson region - these photos showing damage from just one of the many.

#Ukraine officials say in the last 24 hours #Russia fired 75 rounds (389 shells).

Among the buildings damaged were homes, shops and a church in #Kizomys village. ImageImageImageImage
Another Russian aircraft decided to denazify itself.
"Gesture of goodwill?"

This MiG-31 supersonic fighter crashed in the #Murmansk region of #Russia.

#RussiaOnFire (almost)

This blaze was actually in #Cyprus but at the Russian Cultural Centre in the island's capital #Nicosia (Lefkosia)

There was a bang prior to the fire, with some speculating a molotov cocktail was thrown into the building but that's unconfirmed.
2/2

#Cyprus Mail reports the fire at the Russian Cultural Centre is already out and police are quizzing witnesses right now.

Lots more details, photos and a video here:

Thanks to my fire-spotters today Nene and Carolynn!

Here's another #RussiaOnFire, this time in #Tyumen'

An apartment block looks likely inhabitable for many for a long while. No one was injured as the building was evacuated in time.
#RussiaOnFire which shocked a few drivers in #NizhnyNovgorod.

There was a four vehicle crash, and one, a pick-up truck, spectacularly caught fire.
The driver did free himself before this and no one was hurt.
A foreigner has been arrested in #Ukraine trying to recruit young women to work as prostitutes in the #UK.

Police are not saying if the arrested man, who's 24 years old, is British.
He was detained in #Lviv when he tried to smugge two women across the border. Image
I'm seeing many more "accidents" resulting in death in #Russia than normal, and I don't think it's confirmation bias.
It begs the questions:
Are there fewer qualified staff?
Are sanctions hindering repairs?

Here a railway worker was electrocuted on the lines in #Yekaterinburg. ImageImage
I checked back in to see what's happening in the village of #Sovsa, which was almost wiped out by #RussiaOnFire yesterday.

Everyone was criticising the authority for careless grass burning, yet now the council's blaming the owner of a saw-mill which went up in flames too. ImageImageImageImage
44 more prisoners of war are free in #Ukraine this evening.

Two civilians are among those released in the latest swap deal with #Russia.

Six officers were liberated, the rest privates or sergeants.

#SlavaUkraini ImageImage
#Ukraine says #Russia has again blocked the Black Sea grain corridor.

Kyiv says 4 ships, including one chartered by the UN World Food Program to deliver wheat to Ethiopia, were unable to leave port.
Moscow claims Ukraine refuses to let the ships leave.

In Sunday's thread I reported on this drone crashing near #Moscow.

Now German magazine "Bild" has claimed it was an assassination attempt by #Ukraine on Putin.

2/2

The claims seems fanciful and poorly sourced.
Bild seems to rely on this single tweet by a Ukrainian to leap to this conclusion.

South Africa says it made a mistake during a press conference when the President indicated it wanted to withdraw from the International Criminal Court.

Seems someone looked at the Constitution.
Now it gets interesting when Putin goes to SA in August!

I've double checked rumours that #France has again scuppered the "ammo for #Ukraine" promise

There's no confirmation. First reports came from a Polish radio station. But it could well be true that Paris will only agree the payment if ammo is made in the EU with France benefiting
Earlier today Google (Earth + Maps) updated its images of occupied #Mariupol.

They are still old aerial views, but both interesting and distressing at the same time.
A lot of pictures in this report which translates perfectly.

Plenty of things worth watching tonight.
The health of #Putin. I doubt it's true.
Health of #Erdogan - rumoured to be serious, but when behind in the polls, worth using the sympathy card?

And this is said to be an explosion near the airfield in St Petersburg (unverified)
Local media in St Petersburg also report the explosion(s) near the airport.

There's still no word on the cause, but locals are saying lots of emergency vehicles passing, according to this report:

fontanka.ru/2023/04/27/722…
oops...

Next question from Russia watchers is: does Erdogan have a lookalike stand-in yet?

You've found the start of Thursday's daily #RussiaUkraineWar️ thread. It's Day 427 and once again it's a bloody start to the day.

All the news, all day in one handy place.
For a recap of yesterday's news, click this link and scroll:

Straight to the news from #Mykolaiv (RU: #Nikolaev) which has been attacked by cruise missiles this morning.

One person's known to be dead and 23 injured after one of #Russia's Black Sea fleet fired on the peaceful city in southern #Ukraine, hitting an apartment block. ImageImageImageImage
#Russia's losses a little higher in terms of equipment today but a little lower in terms of body bags.

Day 426 of #Russia's needless and disastrous full invasion and war in #Ukraine.

A reasonably quiet start to Tuesday 25 April.
Need a quick recap of yesterday's news? Click below:

#StandWithUkraine

The level of #Russia's losses in the last 24 hours remains in line with recent days. Another 690 killed in #Ukraine and we remain on course for 200,000 in mid-May.

Also note a very large 31 vehicle/fuel tanks.

#RussiansGoHome Image
British Intel today comments on the figures. They are slightly behind the 8-ball because as readers here will know, the trend is slightly up again. But yes, down from the insane numbers when #Russia was launching non stop attacks with cannon fodder.

Welcome to my daily #Ukraine thread for the 425th time!

Here every single day without fail to bring you the news of #Russia's illegal invasion in one handy place.

If you like what I do, tips are welcome. Buy me a coffee (see my profile) or send me a story tip via DM.
Sundays are often fairly quiet, even in a war it seems. But not yesterday.

One of the longest Sunday threads for over six months of fighting in #Ukraine.

If you need to catch up, here's the link for the start of yesterday's 🧵

I'll start in #Russia where a drone "stuffed with explosives" has been found near #Noginsk in Moscow region.

The 3-metre UAV weighing 85kgs "fell from the sky".
Media are saying it's one of #Ukraine's UJ-22 drones, with Canadian M112 explosive charges (unverified)

Hello and welcome to the daily "#Ukraine" thread for Day 424 of the awful and illegal war started by #Russia.

For those of us in #England, happy St George's Day. It's also London Marathon day, so let's wish luck to this remarkable man: #StandWithUkraine

Yesterday we saw #Russia's brotherly love for Eton Musk. Russian advances in #Bakhmut. Explosions in occupied #Melitopol as well as usual attacks on the liberated part of #Kherson and #Kharkiv.

Review anything you missed by clicking and scrolling⬇️

For the first time the @TheStudyofWar states that #Ukraine troops have claimed land south of the river (left bank) in #Kherson region.

I'm not 100% convinced. I'd say this coastal region is uncontrolled, with very regular sorties by 🇺🇦 tactical squads:

And so begins the daily thread for Day 423.
This is the only 🧵you need for all the news about #Ukraine and its defence against #Russia's illegal invasion.

Missed something yesterday? It's all here:

Quite a good 'haul' for #Ukraine in the lat 24 hours on the battlefield.

Four anti-aircraft systems and three "special equipment" items could be crucial ahead of the counter-attack.

In addition, #Russia lost another 680* soldiers.

*estimate by #Kyiv Image
London today gets around to countering some of the masses of disinfo #Russia creates, which trolls, bots and useful idiots gleefully spread.

It's Friday already and here is Daily Thread No. 422 covering events in #Ukraine and #Russia's illegal war.

Yesterday was fairly quiet, but if you need to catch up on events, click and scroll here⬇️

First, one big update on this story in #Russia which broke last night.

The Kremlin has actually admitted they bombed themselves in #Belgorod! #FriendlyFire on steroids!

2/2
They also admit 2 people were injured when #Russia bombed its own city, #Belgorod.

Look at the first photo - a car blown onto the roof of a supermarket!

The Kremlin says "abnormal derailment of aviation ammunition occurred" from a Su-34 VKS aircraft.

The bomb fell off😅🤡 ImageImageImageImage
