know what's crazy? taking a knee, rather than sitting, was a compromise to show deference to veterans. but y'all just wanna be mad, ha?
moral of the story? it's not about what these guys are or aren't doing. it's about who they are. or, in critics' minds, *what* they are.

anyway, what's happened is a discussion of the mistreatment of black ppl has been turned into a one of hurt white feelings over the anthem.
and yesterday, with all the statements, was about trump disparaging the league run by mostly white owners and how that hurt their feelings.
then it became about how villanueva gets to say what he wants no matter what, because military, which is readily associated with whiteness.
meanwhile, all that arm locking and few address trump saying protestors should be fired...but none of these owners will hire kaepernick.
nope. we're knee deep in the only angles the general white population is comfortable with: the anthem, the flag and "freedom of speech."
all things to which white ppl can relate. but "hey, please stop shooting us!" just doesn't go over the same way.

if i may take a brief moment to say something, and preface it by saying i'm not blaming judy for this, as she's using common parlance.

that said: what in the world is a "diverse hire?"
by definition, "diversity" cannot exist in an individual instance like hiring one person. it's much broader than that, and it is problematic to effectively use "diverse" as a code word for "non-white male."
now, specific to this instance, it's a big problem if the nfl is telling the bengals they'd like them to hire a black or brown coach. and it would be a public relations nightmare, one they could not explain away. anyone who wanted to scream QUOTAS would have a leg to stand on.

yanno, it's funny you mention that. i have some thoughts and some time. allow me to meander a bit. a thread shall commence.
over the last few months, i've asked a few times "why are we still here?" about twitter. it's been rhetorical and, obviously, i'm still here. i don't tweet as much, but i'm still here. that's even though i don't find it particularly enjoyable and struggle to find others who do.
but after watching that museum thing happen, i kinda think we need to really ask ourselves what we're on here for. cuz that seemed like a lot of people who were #onhere for different reasons, and they all came together and exploded.

what’s offensive about the kanye thing isn’t quite his doing, but still...the hypocrisy of ppl using kanye to show black ppl to ✌🏾think for themselves✌🏾while then expecting us to think like kanye.
and that’s the part that’s so stupid that kanye can’t be forgiven. none of his new allies care that he’s thinking “freely.” they want him to think like them.

none of those ppl will give my credit for my free thoughts. cuz it ain’t about that.
all of this to say that if you think kanye has a point with this “free thought” stuff, i dare you to explain to me what it is that makes him fewer than anyone else without telling on yourself.

I was just leaving the grocery & as I went to put up the cart & there was a homeless veteran sitting near the carts in the cold. He was just staring at a quarter that was in his hand. I pulled out what cash I had, about $20 & held his hand & said thank you for your service. 1/
It was fucking heart wrenching. What I don't understand is why Veterans are not taken care of for life like the House, the Senate and the President are. #Veterans sacrifice their lives for our freedom and they come home to get tossed in the streets. 2/
We would not have a Democracy if we did not have men and women that have given their lives to serve our Country. Veterans should be held in the highest regard. They should have housing and benefits for life. I will never forget his face. It is seared into my heart. 3/
