Fantastic video on the chemistry of happiness & gratification. This guy is an amazing speaker

h/t @DavidBCollum

Four biochemicals of happiness: endorphin, dopamine, serotonin & oxytocin. E&D are the “selfish” chemicals. Endorphins: mask physical pain.
Dopamine: focuses us on goal. Importance of tangible goal=> write it down. Danger = highly addictive (drugs, cell phones…) if unbalanced
Serotonin: responsible for pride & status. Increases self-confidence, reinforce relationships. Danger= can be tricked.
Serotonin is leadership chemical. True leaders able to sacrifice themselves for others. => Leadership is a choice.
Oxytocin => love, trust, friendship, safety => physical touch, human bonds matter. Not addictive but takes time 2 build. Feel like u belong.
Last chemical: cortisol. Feeling of stress & anxiety. Designed to keep us alive. Makes us stiff & ready to go, increases heart rate.
Cortisol means anger ahead! Shouldn’t be permanent – only in dangerous situations. Inhibits release of oxytocin.
