When someone ends a feedback email with "XXX, the guy who is an expert in this", I'm sorry but I just can't take your mansplainin' seriously
Here's some context on this email from yesterday (since apparently I don't know what manplaining is, and how it's used, even tho um hello!)
Manplaining is when a person (predominantly male) talks to a person (predominantly female) in a condescending or patriarchal way.
It's quite patronizing and usually comes from somebody who considers himself an expert. This person in particular likes to email our show/
feedback email which directs to all male and female hosts, and directs his emails at ME each time.
Generally starting with something like "Shannon, Shannon Shannon... We need to talk, hunny.
"you obviously don't understand the theory behind xyz. Seriously. Call me. I can't explain it to you."
Edit: "I can explain it to you"
And ends with his name, we'll call him Bob, and his signature. In this case is was "Bob - an expert in xyz"
He never directs his emails to my male coworkers, and apparently he is an expert in 4+ subjects (since he's emailed at least four times)
THIS, ladies and gents, is a great example of manplaining. When a person talks to someone in such a patronizing way you just can't.
So! I did a lil life hack. In Gmail you can create a filter under the "More" button while on an open message.
Follow the on screen directions to automatically direct any emails from Bob to your trash, mark as read, and say goodbye to Mr. Mansplainer
Have a great life Bob. You sure did waste a lot of time telling me about camera sensors and hard drives.
