/ Let’s set the record straight. @POGOBlog is a nonpartisan, independent government watchdog—unwaveringly. And we have not taken a position on Judge Kavanaugh. We take our reputation seriously. Here are a few facts that aren’t hard to find if you look...
/ First: We receive foundation funding from across the political spectrum—including the Charles Koch Foundation, in addition to receiving funding from Soros’ Open Society Foundations. bit.ly/2plgCFu
/ Second: Deb Katz, vice chair of our Board of Directors, is a long-time member of our Board, and has worked with us for years on #whistleblower issues.

If you look at our list of Board members, you’ll also see...
/ ...it also includes former Congressman Mickey Edwards (R-OK) who served in the Republican leadership from 1989-1993. Our work is stronger because of both of them.
/ And, look, we all know Washington is a small world—so small, in fact, that one of Judge Kavanaugh’s lawyers has worked with our @ConPro on issues related to the death penalty. constitutionproject.org/about-us/the-d…
/ Third, @fpmag’s claim that we oppose Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination is false. Never in POGO’s 37 years have we taken a position on a Supreme Court nominee—nor did our @ConPro in its 20-year history as a separate organization before joining POGO in 2017.
/ Here’s what we did do: We called for Senators to fulfill their oversight duty by waiting to hold a confirmation hearing until the National Archives and Records Administration had finished its review of Kavanaugh’s records so they could get the fullest picture of the nominee.
/ We did the same early last year to ensure there was adequate time for Senate committees to receive and review Cabinet nominee disclosures from the Office of Government Ethics.
/ The purpose of much of our work is to strengthen Congressional oversight. In our letter regarding Kavanaugh’s records, we recognized Sen. @ChuckGrassley’s efforts to ensure all Senators can conduct oversight of the executive branch—that's exactly what Congress needs more of.
/ You can read the two letters we signed onto related to Judge Kavanaugh’s records, focusing on strengthening bipartisan Congressional oversight.

/ Working with Members of Congress & staff from both sides of the aisle and fostering capacity to conduct oversight and bipartisan cooperation are central to our work—take, for example, our oversight boot camp: cnb.cx/2L8ZTxu
/12 Finally, we’re unusual in Washington in trying to ensure our funding doesn’t undermine our independence: We don’t accept contributions from for-profit corporations, labor unions, any gov’t, or anyone who stands to benefit financially from our work. getinvolved.pogo.org/donate
