(2) House judiciary committee sent Sessions a letter a few months ago asking for a second special counsel. I was aware of this letter in part because the reddit Trump-supporting community celebrated it judiciary.house.gov/wp-content/upl…
(3) Looking back its a bit silly now if we think Mueller has flipped, but the theory wasn't as widespread there. Presume the House Judiciary Committee is as in the dark as the media, and their concern is understandable.
(4) First off, Sessions speaks PRAISES of Rosenstein. I've always believed Rosenstein, in appointing Mueller, would have to have been in on the 'Mueller flipped' angle. From there, its the transitive trust property. I trust Trump, he trusts Sessions, Sessions trusts Rosenstein.
(5) Gaetz is a bit of an oddball, probably the youngest house Rep on the committee. But his line of questionin was the smartest and most intriguing in regards to the U1, Clinton Foundation, etc
(6) He drills down, first, and gets Sessions to state that there are some matters raised in the letter he might be recused from. Others, Mueller might have under HIS investigation.
(7) Back to the committee letter, bottom of page 4, the list. NONE OF THAT HAS TO DO WITH 'MUH RUSSIA'.
(8) So why would Sessions even THINK any of that might fall under Mueller's investigation?
(9) Follow up point, Sessions' recusal from matters arising from the election. Recusal doesn't mean he isn't aware of an investigation. Its why he can't confirm or deny if he is recused from some investigations because he can't confirm or deny such investigations exist.
(10) Strategic ambiguity. I love it. Gaetz asks about whether Sessions would habe the authority, subject to his recusal, to appoint a special counsel, to investigate the Fusion GPS dossier. Sessions answer?
(11) He FREEZES. Then says he should not be evaluating cases. :D
(12) Gaetz does something interesting. He acknowledges the strategic ambiguity angle, says he doesnt want to know anything about an or if there is an investigation, just if Sessions had the authority. Gets an honest yes or no answer as a result. "Subject to my recusal, yes."
(13) Only time in the Sessions hearing that Sessions froze.
(14) Elizabeth Carlisle, the pseudonym for Lynch, is brought up. Sessions does an interesting dodge. Apparently its recommended cabinet members like the AG use a psuedonym. He doesn't say anything about wrongdoing discussed using that psuedonym.
(15) Fusion GPS brought up again, possibly to catch Sessions off guard, and he dodges that with a can't say and discusses the psuedonym more.
(16) Final moment: Gaetz asks Sessions if he can appoint a special counsel. Yes. Is Sessions recused: can't say. 0.0
(17) Honestly? 130% convinced now Sessions, Mueller, Rosenstein, by extension Wray are after the corruption in DC, Clinton, whoever's working with her. Anyone who tries to spread fake crap about Sessions gets a one way ticket to block town from me. Transitive Trust Property /end.
