Yesterday, I spoke on the phone with a top elected official in Congress.

We talked strategy for stopping the #GOPTaxScam bill. This bill is moving fast. Here is what the person said. 1/x

Now that the House has passed their #taxscam bill, we have no time to lose.

Senate is next, but we need to go all out on both Senate and House, can't pick one first. No time. 3/x

Republicans are working to get this bill through Congress as quickly as possible. 4/x

The elected official told me they had spoken to several Republican officeholders to ask them to do what is right for the country -- and not support this bill. 5/x

Those Republican officeholders expressed their misgivings about the bill, but they are under lots of pressure not to buck Republican leadership.

The internal party message is that failing to pass this could destroy the Republican party. 6/x

Republican leadership goal is:

1. House passage (done),
2. "Pre-conference" between House / Senate (not yet)
3. Senate passage (not yet)
4. House passage of Senate bill (not yet)
5. Trump signs into law. (hell no)

*** Note what is missing from this above list: a second Senate vote. 8/x

Normally, House + Senate pass their separate versions, "conference" on a compromise, and then pass the final compromise through both Houses again. Then President signs into law. 9/x

They are going to try to SKIP a second Senate vote by getting the two sides to compromise ahead of time -- maybe even this Thanksgiving week.

While Congress is out of session. 10/x

Then the House just passes exactly what Senate did -- and Trump signs. 11/x

This is the most extreme high-speed scenario. If Republican Senators and Reps can agree on a "pre-conference" compromise. It could happen. 12/x

Republican leaders are pushing this bill with such speed partly because they know it is unpopular. 13/x

But this #GOPTaxScam bill has angered a lot of people in America. And the more people find out about it, the angrier the pubic is going to get. 14/x

Time is not on Republicans' side.

Which is why we need to turn up the pressure. To. Slow. This. Down. 15/x

This #GOPTaxScam bill will hurt A LOT of people in its desperate attempt to give a massive tax cut to the super-wealthy and big corporations. 16/x

#GOPTaxScam punches a hole in the Affordable Care Act to come up with cash for tax cuts for the elite. Will raise health insurance costs on everyone. 17/x

Hurts veterans, student loan holders, many homeowners, people with disabilities, the list goes on and on. 18/x

This bill will RAISE taxes on families earning less than $75,000 by 2027 -- according to the official Joint Committee on Taxation of the US Congress.

3. If you have Republican Members of Congress -- GO TO THEIR OFFICES. Ask to meet with their staff. Bring your friends.
