One of anxiety's more insidious traits is that it isolates you. It tricks you into thinking you're alone or a burden or that no one else can understand what you're going through.
Which is basically what a disease does. It churns you up and tries its hardest to make sure you can't get to anyone who can help you make it stop doing that.
And it adds another layer by making it hard to communicate what's going on. It makes you think you're weird for saying: "hey I'm convinced something terrible is going to happen but it hasn't yet but I feel like it has and I don't know how to realize it hasn't."
But even just saying something like that is a step in the right direction. Putting it into words, acknowledging there IS something wrong and something you need help with is huge. Once you acknowledge it, you can start looking for help.
And yeah, your anxiety is going to try to tell you nothing's wrong, you shouldn't trouble people, don't be a burden. But that's the disease trying to preserve itself. We don't listen to what the disease wants, we get rid of it.
So recognize that the roadblocks that crop up to you getting help, to acknowledging what's happening, are the anxiety trying to preserve itself. It's tightening its claws on you because it knows you're trying to get rid of it. Keep pulling at it.
There's a lot of value in recognizing that this isn't a bunch of silly feelings, this is a dragon you're fighting. And no one ever expects anyone to fight a dragon alone. There is zero shame and infinite wisdom in seeking help.
