It has come to my attention that some folks are concerned about the role I play in signal-boosting creationists, flat-Earthers, racists, and other varieties of total dickcock. Let me assure you that this is a concern I share.

The problem, it has been said, is that I don't CONFRONT every dipshit I retweet with evidence of their failure, and as a result it seems as though I'm endorsing their positions.

It's true. I don't try to "fix" creationists. I don't do that for the same reason medical students don't try to cure cadavers: that's not what they're FOR. The question isn't what we can do FOR them; it's what we can learn FROM them.

I feel that creationists can teach us a lot about the dangers of maintaining uninformed beliefs. They're practically object lessons in the topic.

Now, have I done a great job of making that case? Not lately, I haven't.

It's a lamentable fact that, as the past five years have worn on, I've kinda run out of things to say about the "why do monkeys still exist" question. It was bound to happen. We're like the prisoners who've memorized a joke book over here.

I've been focusing my commentary more on the INNOVATIVE stupid things creationists say -- such as the burgeoning flat-Earth movement -- and retweeting, but not COMMENTING ON, the folks saying NORMAL stupid creationist stuff.

I make the assumption that the common, regurgitated creationist bullshit is SELF-EVIDENTLY incorrect. I know many of you fine folks agree, and I'm grateful to anyone who takes the time to gently correct creationists on their fuckups.

Let me make this clear, though.

If I've retweeted something stupid -- even if I don't comment on it -- then, by virtue of adding it to my collection here, what I'm saying should be heard LOUD and CLEAR in a RESONATING TONE as though voiced by the DULCET PIPES of KEITH DAVID:

"Yo, that shit's stupid."
