1) So, on the Quite Frankly podcast with @PoliticalOrgy I was asked what I thought Feinstein's angle was. I went into my theory a bit on there, I'll go into more detail now.
2) The 'reality' I'm going with for Dianne Feinstein is that she is a corrupt, self-serving swamp monster. It fits the facts outside of the transcript release best.
3) She and her husband use her political position and connections to funnel all kinds of lucrative business deals to her husband's company, screwing the federal government out of millions, possibly billions, for which she receives hearty kickbacks.
4) That and she flip flops on her positions more than a goddamn pancake. She's been in politics for 50+ years, 5 and a partial terms as a Senator. I'm rather confident in the 'corrupt self serving swamp monster' reality for my assumption of her character.
5) So, she is on the Senate Intelligence Committee looking into all of this Muh Russia bullshit, and now its starting to turn against the Dems in oh so many ways despite what the screeching and logical leaps from the left may claim otherwise.
6) If anyone knows, she does, exactly how fucked the Democrats are at this point. It started by digging in their heels on the DNC server hack, and then even more so with each passing scandal being revealed. FISA, Fusion GPS, Hezbollah's crime ring...
7) So put yourself in her position. You have a lucrative political racket going that no one calls you on even when your party is the minority. You're watching the case against Trump evaporate before your own eyes. This has the potential to hit every big name in your party.
8) Do you fight or do you run? You run. You cut and run, and you do so in a way that keeps your political racket intact while distancing yourself as far away from investigations and scandals and all the ways that Muh Russia and other hysterics will spontaneously combust.
9) You need to get the hell off that committee ASAP, you need to go full Sergeant Schultz
10) So, you take a transcript that shouldn't be released, throw it into the public with your name all over it, take responsibility for doing so while throwing out conflicting statements to generate controversy, blame it on a flu, say you were pressured then that you werent
11) And drop a molotov cocktail behind you.
12) In a few days she'll be booted off the committee. She'll fade into the background, and deal with her upcoming primary challenge for the midterms. We'll not hear anything from her for awhile, until 2019 when she's sitting for another 6 years as a CA senator. /end
