I actually despise the term “girl gamer”. It’s why I try to change it to women who game, or something else. Part of it is the internal reaction to girl being used on me as a 40’ish adult.
There’s also that baggage of black women being called girl or gal as a diminutive by racists. Same as when an adult black dude is called boy. However...
This is not the same as my peers, other black women (in a certain age range) saying “hey girl” or me going “So, girl lemme tell you about...” for example.
The usage & me liking or disliking its application is very much situational & your mileage likely varies. Also good for you if girl gamer doesn’t bother you.
I don’t need or want you 10, 20 tweet essay reply on why you find this perfectly acceptable. Go live your best twitter life & don’t catch a block out here.

Ok so I am awake after a few hours sleep cause this #FanCon situation got me fucked up. I was hopeful till I saw the Statement & FAQ that went up last night. It’s at the site if you haven’t read it. [Thread]
So first off, full disclosure. @INeedDivGms was an affiliate organization to the event. I then joined as staff on the Interactive Events Division. (Gaming) My hotel was supposed to be covered. I was doing panels as well, so that’s out in the open
As for the postponement, I found out not much before the Kickstarter backer email went out due to the Hyatt cancelations & folks breaking that on twitter.

So, I went to a spiritual channeling thingy cause I had to.

The format was basically, random person asks question, the "spirit" responds.

I keep going to these religious/spiritual events and theres this itch of a theme at all of them. Adults are lost kids.
The evangelical preacher always gives these answers that could solve your problem, it gets to the emotions of it, if they just went a bit further a process of learning could being.

With the channeling, the answer is always there, it's so close but the answer always ends the
same. God/the universe will handle it

Now you may be thinking that this is the child part. It's not. A lot of this stuff that's said always comes back to this need for power. The power of wealth, health, and direction.

But the way one acquires that power becomes the issue.

I'm about to try to make a simple electron app in a couple of hours. Never done it before. Stay tuned.
I'm not saying what the app is for because some "helpful" person will tell me it already exists. It's super simple though. Only reason for electron is because I want it to be available as a desktop app.
So my goal with this project was to see if I could glue something together quickly by reading documentation and tutorials. I've got the basic building blocks. But it turns out there are some non-trivial elements that require either more research or grabbing existing libraries.

I'm tired of being pointed to "satire" only to discover propaganda and, in this case, a troubling (I presume unintentional) minimization of the seriousness of rape. Let's take this thing apart and see how it works.

Satire shows the ridiculous nature of a point of view or person or movement by exaggeration and humor. Satire should be both funny and true.

So: Is this funny? And is it true?
First test: Is it funny?

I don't think so. But humor is subjective, so let's take the joke apart and see how it works.

In satire, we use exaggeration as a lens to reveal a core ridiculousness of the target.

1. "Orcs in disguise" When Christine Blasey Ford refused to appear at the hearing on Monday my first thought was of course she wouldn't, they are just stalling the confirmation. My second thought was who the hell is her lawyer and what advice are they giving her?
