#climatechange is the greatest national security threat to our country in the next 50 years. It's a threat multiplier. Terrorism, food security, housing, employment, & immigration issues all stand to worsen due to the effects of climate change. 2/

We were making good progress in our efforts to 1) understand climate change drivers, and 2) prepare & adapt for our new reality before the Trump & Pruitt tag team of forced ignorance. We CAN meet the challenge of a changing climate. 3/

This type of doubt-sowing & the whole Trump admin's posture of mistrust of scientists is dangerous for our society. Why is it suddenly en vogue to disbelieve & distrust actual experts simply because we study our planet? I'll tell you why: money. 4/

The fossil fuel industry is dying. As I've said, the Stone Age didn't end because we ran out of stones. The fossil fuel age is ending because they're literally killing us & there are better ways. 5/

Pruitt, Trump, & every climate denier in the GOP are playing a game that pits scientists against everyone else. They're doing it to keep milking their gravy train of big fossil fuel donor dollars for every last drop. They KNOW climate change is real. This is a distraction. 6/

There is no debate needed. We know the climate is changing. We know that sea level rise, ocean acidification, crop die-offs, & more intense extreme weather events will hurt millions of (mostly) poor folks. These are facts. 7/

So no, Pruitt. Climate change is not a good thing. It's an incredible opportunity for American ingenuity & innovation to rise to meet a massive challenge yet again. We can & will adapt, but snake oil salesmen like you need to get the hell out of the way & let us work. #/
