Hi @isaby I have just seen your interview on Sky with Adam Bolton. Near the end of the clip you say the Common External tariff makes it harder for African countries to export into the EU.

You're obviously not aware that most African countries are EXEMPT from most tariffs.
It's not hard to discover for yourself.

Just go to trade-tariff.service.gov.uk/trade-tariff/s… put in a product and then click on the Import Tab.

You will probably see a lot of ZEROs. Mostly for poor countries.
For example There are 47 countries which pay no tariffs on anything at all except arms and ammunition. These countries are on the UN's Least Developed Countries list and that means they're automatically on the EU's Everything but Arms zero tariff schedule. See map.
You must agree that covers a substantial portion of Africa no?

But that's not the end of it. Botswana, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Mauritius, Namibia, the Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe all have economic partnership agreements (EPA) with the EU.
Also Egypt and Morocco both have Free Trade Agreements with he EU.

And Cape Verde Is a Generalised System of Preferences Plus country (GSP+).

All these agreements result in zero tariffs on nearly everything.
This is the interview I was referring to.
I hope @adamboultonSKY (and other journalists) will take note of this and not let interviewees get away with this kind of thing again.

@afneil @Jo_Coburn @BBCsarahsmith @Daily_Politics - particularly bad in this area.
Well someone had to have a go. I didn't expect to be Guido! Unfortunately it's a fail.
