A dog's age ago, gaming journalism had exclusive access to the newest products.
Everything was going fine.
Money flowed, from advertiser to publisher to critics
Then the new media, homegrown YouTubers, began to muscle in, unknowingly, on their territory.
Wages began to decline.

These YouTubers, the citizen journalists of the gaming media, were expanding their popularity majorly, because of honest to semi honest reviewers. While also being able to demonstrate the products during their reviews thanks to self recorded video & media.

Something had to be done to counter this threat to gaming journalists everywhere.
A plan was hatched, base, as it was effective for a time. Fraternize with gaming developers to create rock stars, & create a new monopoly. Give these men & women awards for "correct" views.

Ignore the quality of these young dev's software products, the only thing that matters is making them popular. Rig award shows, so that hidden investors can cash in their investments behind the scenes on awarded products, & build cash reserves to hide the gaping hole in profits.

One of these ladies, the Miss Chelsea Van Valkenberg, aka Zoe Quinn, was amongst those who benefited from this fraternization between games journalists, & rock star gaming developers. She espoused the correct views, knew the right people, & technically made a game.

She was well on the way to becoming a gentle fraudster, robbing men & women of investment money through false promises of an indie games jam (an event to create simple games) hosted with donated cash.
That was until her once boyfriend discovered what am awful being she was.

You see, Ms Quinn liked to fraternize. A lot. While lying to the man, Eron Gjoni, that she wasn't, & that she considered the idea of cheating as tantamount to rape.
By her own worthless definition, she "raped" him no less than five times.

He gathered evidence.

Once he gathered all the could, he made a blog post, with video & textual citations & evidence, & linked it everywhere he could.

Most journalists ignored it. Others denounced him. Forums banned the discussion of the Zoe Post, because it was wrong think.

However, 4chan noticed.

Initially, it was banned there too, because the moderators were also declining in quality, & more worried about wrong think.
But two of the boards revolted, & demanded to be allowed to talk about the post.

The former because it demonstrated journalist fraternization.

And the latter of whom was concerned that this showed that the West was being targeted, & undetermined by cultural Marxism.

Both were right.

A secret clique of games journalists immediately denounced all gamers as "over" & denounced the post with a united voice in front & back.

This United reaction spawned a multi year online war that pitted Cultural Marxist invested & infested games journalism, & games developers, against literally everyone else who thought something was disgustingly wrong with the former's actions & behaviors thus far.

The latter was denounced as trolls, harassers, racists, misogynists.

Basically everything the prog left has now destroyed the meanings of.

While gamers, & everyone else disgusted by these Marxists cliqueish, purity seeking cultist behaviors.. Became investigators in their own.

The weapons of modern net warfare were, if not created, perfected in Gamergate.
Mobs attacked employers who would dare to hire & employ gross harassers, & haters of women.

News was questioned, & citations examined, revealing the citation oroborous, cliques, & dev fraternization.

The credibility of games journalists, indie award ceremonies, & indie devs were all destroyed in one way or another by both sides, often through their own hand.

The gamers, "trolls", "gross harassers" all, learned to question everything & everyone.
Some went on into 2016..

And noticed a most curious sight: Gamergate was happening again, but this time to someone opposing prog identity politics. Journalists were banding against Trump, & the same tactics, & behaviors were being used here.

Now, not all the gamers were for Trump.

Hell.

Every single weekend during the two years was marked by internecine warfare, arguments, & discussions.

Even something as simple as pineapple on pizza was a heated topic.

But the practice was good.

And I imagine, enough gamers decided to go MAGA because of that learned ability:

The ability to argue against what someone is telling you as truth, & destroy what they say through examination & investigation of methods, facts, & through sheer argument destruction.

That's a powerful thing, learning to question your sources, & the media.
Hard to learn.
