I'm pretty overwhelmed by all the fairytales I'm being told and metaphors I must grasp, not least about cakes and cherries, by brexiters and my government that I thought I might tell a fairytale of my own. So here goes - please follow my thread.....
Once upon a time a patient went to her doctor about a disease she was suffering. “There are two choices of treatment,” the doctor told her and explained a little about each one. He thought that lack of detail and using layman's terms would help her to understand.
Because she wasn't especially well informed she was rather torn between the two options – it was as near as dammit a fifty-fifty decision – but she did choose and the treatment began.
After a while it was becoming increasingly apparent that the treatment was getting her nowhere and there was an increasing number of deeply worrying side-effects. So she went back to the doctor and asked to change treatment.
The doctor refused. “I gave you a choice and you went for Medication A. We are going to see the treatment through to its bitter end, come what may.”
However, when pressed, he couldn’t give any assurances of a satisfactory outcome, having told a lie or two along the way, involving pots of gold, unicorns and friendly trolls.

He added, “It was your choice, remember, so it won’t be my fault if things get worse.”
Needless to say, in order to secure a happy ending, as merits all once-upon-a-time stories, she changed doctors.

“Why did my last doctor insist I stayed with Medication A?” she asked her new doctor.

Her new doctor paused for a moment ......
“I shouldn’t tell you this,” the new doctor replied, breaking an ethical rule, but in a forgiveable way in order to move the story along. “He had major shares in Medication A Pharmaceuticals PLC.”

Now tuck yourself in & mind the nightmares about #BrexitShambles don't bite!
