There are so many interesting things going on in the world! How, as an editor, do you continually decide to fill the nation's leading op-ed section with retreads of the same old outrage bait about college kids and Twitter users being mean to people?
It really looks like the NYT op-ed section has opted for a strategy of trolling for hate-clicks instead of engaging with the ideas of the day. There are probably about 5 million op-ed topics more compelling than "College kids were mean to Christina Sommers"
Plus Weiss' piece is just bad on the merits -- among other things she cites what appears to be a parody "Antifa" Twitter account with 7,000 followers, not once but twice
Also Weiss uncritically refers to Rubin as a "liberal commentator," without noting that his entire schtick is now "the Left is bad." Here's a favorable write-up from Glenn Beck published *just yesterday* theblaze.com/video/watch-li…
We're told that at the NYT op-ed section, "the first-order value is intellectual honesty." Yet Weiss labels an anti-PC crusader a "liberal commentator" and uses an obvious parody Twitter account's attack on him as evidence "The Left" is eating its own.
If all you read were Bari Weiss columns you'd start to believe that "progressives criticizing people" is the most urgent crisis facing society today.
