god i hate hearing about hypothetical "lazy" people to justify a denial of human rights

i don't care if someone spends the rest of their life doing nothing but watching dick van dyke reruns on a couch, they still deserve water, food, shelter, healthcare, all of it
also "what if *literally everyone* spontaneously decided to not do anything other than sit on the couch and watch tv" is not a convincing counterargument, nor is it actually a question of logistics, it's a question of "what if a wizard curses the whole planet, what then"
if a wizard curses the entire planet to Be Lazy then i guess we're fucked is what and that's the end of the human race

i mean unless you're big on investing into hypothetical anti-wizard god defenses
"giving people access to human fundamentals no matter what is a good thing"

"ah, but what if the entirety of humanity spontaneously decides to stare into the snakes of medusa, turning them into stone and making mutual care impossible, what then"

"then i guess we're fucked?"
i'm just gobsmacked that someone basically sprung on me "what if timmy turner asked his fairy godparents to make everybody in the world not want to do anything but watch tv"
