Bitcoin is a social experiment, not a piece of software.

Bitcoin is sometimes described as 'antifragile'. Its antifragility doesn't come from lines of code. It comes from its users.
Users who choose to run full nodes. Users who choose which software to run and which rules to follow. Users who know that progress can only be made by building consensus.
Bitcoin's antifragility comes from its web of incentives linking miners, companies, developers and users. At the center of that web are the users.
Bitcoin hasn't survived for 9 years because it was perfect to begin with.

Bitcoin has survived because people believe in it and want it to survive. Bitcoin has survived because of the sweat and the guts and the grit of its devs and its users.
Devs who have tested, and fixed bugs, and optimized just fast enough to keep up. And users who have made their own free choice to run that code.
Users are Bitcoin's immune system. Our inoculation against centralisation is users running the code they choose and rejecting any outside attempts to force changes on them.
If users give up that right and responsibility then Bitcoin as an experiment has failed.

And if that happens, then Bitcoin hasn't failed us, we've failed Bitcoin.

Remember: Bitcoin and lightning are open source protocols.

If you don't understand them, it's your responsibility to educate yourself;
if you think they're broken, it's your responsibility to fix them;
if you don't like them, it's your responsibility to build something better.
Things are moving incredibly fast. There aren't enough hours to keep up with everything that's happening. The only thing more scarce than Bitcoin is your time.
Therefore: don't waste it on those who snipe from the sidelines without understanding the tech. Don't waste it on those who don't *want* to understand.

1/ 10 years ago today, Satoshi Nakamoto released version 0.1 of the #Bitcoin software. About two days later, the brilliant cryptographer Hal Finney (RIP), had downloaded Satoshi's code and was also running it, increasing the node count of the Bitcoin network to 2.

Regarding Ellie:

- Ellie has said in private messages to teammates in the last hour confirming she has not been the one playing, she is a 17-year old girl but is 'not good' at OW, no Second Wind players/mgmt knew
- Blizzard is currently holding a meeting with SW players/mgmt
Punisher, the player assumed to have played as Ellie, is just another NA ladder player. Not a pro smurf or semipro. It is also possible more than one person played under her name.

Correction: The meeting between Blizzard and SW has not yet occurred, will happen in the next hour.
I have received screenshots of Punisher in a private message conversation with a woman Overwatch player 'Catsui', who was not aware of this incident until recently. Punisher, seen in a Battlenet conversation under Ellie, uses his 'egirl smurf' to grief OWL and other top players.

Ok, this is going to be a controversial one. I've avoided the topic for a long time, but since there are many important experts -- ppl that I truly admire -- discussing the subject, I can no longer ignore it.
1/ Since the @Bakkt announcement, the issue has gained steam, especially through the works of @CaitlinLong_ (who's a real champion of #Bitcoin and liberty btw) and her concerns on WallSt's financialization of crypto. B/c of that, FRB is now inserted frequently into debates.
2/ As a background for laymen, FRB is considered THE BIG CONTENTIOUS & UNRESOLVED DEBATE within adherents of the so-called Austrian School of Economics. Rothbardians tend to think it's fraudulent, inflationary and causes economic cycles. They are the proponents of 100% reserves.
