1) Whelp. @Project_Veritas and @JamesOKeefeIII warned us this was coming, @Twitter denied it at the time, yet here we FUCKING GO. Twitter's new software that they've already been using to shadowban people. slate.com/technology/201…
2) This is a partial shadowban; basically, anything that a shadowbanned account posts in a 'public' conversation (with no clarification to what this counts as yet, so I'll assume responding to a large blue check account) will be hidden and shoved to the bottom of a post.
3) "Twitter is announcing on Tuesday that it will begin hiding tweets from certain accounts in conversations and search results. To see them, you’ll have to scroll to the bottom of the conversation and click “show more replies," [or change your search options].
4) "When Twitter’s software decides that a certain user is “detracting from the conversation,” all of that user’s tweets will be hidden from search results and public conversations until their reputation improves. And they won’t know that they’re being muted in this way"
5) Gotta protect the sanctity of idiots to say whatever the hell they want with zero factchecking whatsoever 👍
6) "Let’s call this Twitter purgatory. (Note: This is not Twitter’s preferred nomenclature, as the company’s representatives made clear to me when I suggested the term in a phone call Monday. “That kind of makes me cringe,” a spokesperson said.)"
7) Yeah. It made you cringe because that's exactly spot on. A limited state you won't know when you're put in it and Twitter 'is still working on a way to notify people'. REALLY.
8) "Less than 1% of accounts make up the majority of accounts reported for abuse, but a lot of what’s reported does not violate our rules." So @Twitter is trying to accommodate hurt feelings now even though hurting feelings doesn't violate their rules.
9) The tool hits people based on a variety of metrics, "such as how often an account is the subject of user complaints, and how often it’s blocked and muted versus receiving more positive interactions such as favorites and retweets."
10) Literally, they're trying to promote the 'health of the conversation' by causing even more repercussions to the behaviors that already divide the political userbase in half.
11) Post under @realDonaldTrump? Better watch out, a swarm of liberals will block and report you then suddenly you're under a shadowban for a tweet as simple as "I support the President!" Nope, that doesn't violate any rules, but if enough people mute and block you, SHADOWBAN
12) For instance, Harvey said, “If you send the same message to four people, and two of them blocked you, and one reported you, we could assume without ever seeing what the content of the message was, that was generally a negative interaction.” REALLY. You can just assume that?
13) "Asked whether the change will mostly affect bots, or real people who are behaving in aggressive and divisive ways, Harvey said it could be either. The software’s goal is to hide tweets from “accounts that are having the maximum negative impact on the conversation,” she said"
14) GOLF CLAP FOR THE @Twitter SHORT BUS FOR DESTROYING ANY CHANCE OF A CONVERSATION EVER HAPPENING. They know EXACTLY how destructive this new software is.
15) "The fact that Twitter won’t notify accounts affected by this seems particularly problematic. Harvey said it’s because the company is still in the early phases of improving the software and doesn’t want to needlessly alarm people who might be affected only for a brief time."
16) No, Harvey, we fucking noticed. We ALL have fucking noticed, you ridiculously incompetent shitbag.
17) Now, let me be frank. I understand that cursing people out under a @kanyewest probably is NOT conducive to a healthy conversation. I get that, and honestly, I agree. I am a caustic hyperbolic asshole.
18) But I am playing by the fucking rulebook @Twitter has laid out. I've STILL gotten put in limited states, only after posting under a blue checkmark account, because liberals mass-report anything going against their mindset, and they outnumber conservatives on the platform.
19) Now @Twitter is saying that they NO LONGER CARE what their rules are. Its all about the mob. Whatever the mob dictates is what Twitter apparently wants to follow. Two people replying "Fuck You" will face two different results depending entirely on who they're replying to.
20) And don't get it twisted: This IS a punishment. This is a penalty. You can be penalized for hurting feelings. You can be thrown under super double secret probation, and never be told about it, for cheering on the government making decisions that makes liberals screech in rage
21) THIS is why I'm jumping in on the quodverum.com project with @Debradelai, @ThomasWictor, @_VachelLindsay_, and @drawandstrike. Because free speech deserves better than Twitter. Because The Truth is not a popularity contest.
