There is a point which debt is too cumbersome...We have a national debt of $21 trillion dollars. Currently the debt ceiling has been raised and the government can spend and borrow as much as they want.
Dems and Republicans make an unholy alliance. Republicans get more military spending and dems get more welfare spending. We've got guns and butter everyone gets what they want but the tax payer.
When we have a vote on my balanced budget in a minute we'll see republicans saying oh my we can't cut spending. They're only for spending restraint in theory.
The budget that republicans passed last year had entitlement reform. Did they do anything to enact those reforms? No. No one lifted a finger to do anything about entitlement spending. It's a canard.
Republicans say we are for devolving spending and limited government and yet why won't they vote for a budget that balances? I've put forward a Penny Plan budget that cuts spending by 1%. Couldn't we cut one penny from every dollar? Isn't there enough government waste to cut?
Does anyone in America think the government can't do with 1% less? If the government ran a balanced budget we would have a stronger, safer nation. If we want to secure our nation we need to make sure we have a sound economy.

This is a hotel in Afghanistan. The government wasted $90 million for a hotel that will never be finished. US tax dollars paid for this. $90 million flushed down the toilet. 
Also in Afghanistan, they shred new equipment and destroy it. Your tax dollars pay for it they destroy it.
Where else do they waste your money? Selfies. But of course we can't cut spending or balance the budget.
Even MORE waste: study on the sex habits of quail on cocaine, sea monsters and the supernatural, kids from Pakistani get trips to space camp and Dollywood. We need a taxpayer advocate on these grant committees to oversee how your money is used.
Here's another one of my favorite examples of waste. It's insulting. Today we're going to vote on budget that balances. This should be a message that we need to cut spending. Part of what my budget would is restore the caps.

My budget does much of what Republicans say they believe in. This bill is what we run on. I'm arguing for a yes vote on the Penny Plan budget because we should be what we say we are.
To those highlighting my vote for tax cuts: allowing Americans to keep more of their own money is what republicans should be for. Fixing the deficit should come from cutting waste and reducing overall spending, all of which I’m for and have put forward legislation to address.
Spending and waste is out of control. How moronic are we to keep flushing tax payer money down a rathole in Afghanistan? When republicans become the majority there is no conservative party. What I'm asking for today is to cut one penny from every dollar in spending.
The bottom line is whether the debt is threatening our country and it is. It's time for Republicans to step up the plate and vote for what they say they're for: a balanced budget.
