1/ "Corgis are definitely one of the top three most intelligent dog breeds!" I insisted not long ago, pounding my fist on the table, and let me tell you, folks, the universe has a way of making you regret which hills you decide to die on.
2/ Ten minutes ago, my corgis were both sitting on the windowsill. The couch is in front of the windowsill, and they have stairs to get up. Girldog likes to climb up and over the back of the couch and then jump down off the cushions, and Boydog prefers the stairs.
3/ I don't know what happened outside, but it's not uncommon for both corgis to go crazy at once, leap down, and race to the back door so they can run out on the porch and bark at something (the porch juts out so they can see and bark at the street from there).
4/ So I, in my office, hear this unusually long and frantic cacophony from the living room, and I go out to discover that Girldog has tried to go in one direction on the windowsill and Boydog has tried to go in the other, and SOMEHOW, now they are both tangled up and stuck.
5/ I disentangle Girldog, who is smaller, and pick her up. Boydog bounds down the stairs. I set Girldog gently on the floor.
Girldog looks at me, shakes herself, and walks away with GREAT dignity.

6/ "Now," I say, "would either of my puppies like to go outside and bark at whatever that was?"
I open the back door, and both of them flop down in place and look at me like I'm colossally stupid.
