The reconstruction of our temple has been on the family's agenda for a long long time. Multiple representations were made to the govt of karnataka in the 90's with no response from the govt. Here's the agenda plan we had. Its in Kannada & its English translation.
Project lay inabeyance for so many years due to many reasons, a non-responsive & hostile govt, general lack of enthusiasm within the extended family, lack of funds. We had no internet in those days & such networking like today wasn't possible, for a lower middle family especially
Building a brand new temple is one thing, restoring a 900 yr old temple in ruins ,where pieces lay scattered around like a jigsaw puzzle obviously needed expert intervention. The family consulted many temple associations for help, some responded positively, others did not.
It is only post 2005 the family made a representation to dharmotana trust of dharmastala who had set up a trust in the 90's specifically to aid restoration of temples in ruins. That was no easy task. They don't restore all temples, they only touch temples of significance.
The family had to make so many representations, constantly following up the matter for years. Who perseveres like that in this day & age of material comfort? These were elders of the house all above the age of 65. Without them the temple would still be in ruins.
There are still dozens of Hoysala era temples equally significant to our temple still rotting in ruins at villages in & around Shantigrama. Why? Because no one cares a damn for them. It could be anyones Kula Devata. People simply don't care to even take an initiative.
I might come across as bragging here but I need to highlight the role played by the elders of my family here. Our temple would be like any other temple rotting in ruins if they didn't take the initiative against all odds to ensure restoration. This has to be on record.
Now what am being accused of through a series of cooked up stories which involves maliciously twisting of a tweet by @gurichopra's who recently visited our temple & took wonderful photographs of it. Check the next tweet on how insidiously the whole thing was plotted to defame me
There are 2 nandis at the temple. One new & the other inside as old as the temple. The one outside the temple is the new nandi. In my original thread(will link the tweet below) I mention the new nandi on the outside. Meanwhile Checkout guri's clarification
Here is my original tweet (tweeted in july 2017) where I mention about the new nandi on the outside of the temple correctly.
And this is the tweet mentioning the old nandi(2nd pic), which is inside the temple, opposite the garbagriha. I tweeted this in feb of last year. I think its very clear to everyone that there are TWO Nandis at the temple.
Now here comes the part where I will burst his bloody lies. He makes use of guri's unfortunate confusion between two nandis to create a fake story where he says @gurichopra met with locals. When infact there was a soul in sight that morning! Guri calls out his lie!Check next tweet
Guri @gurichopra repeatedly tells the lying rat she didn't interact with anyone at the temple! There was no one around. The temple is located in a very remote location & hard to access! See the lies people? How one tweet was used to defame me?? See it?
That's one big lie busted. Now the next thing am being accused of is not giving credit to Dharmothana(SDM) trust. Well let me tell u folks, the intent of me sharing the restoration story with you all was not for publicity or some fame as malevolent characters r insinuating here.
It was meant to be a story to inspire people here. Look up my original thread. The only things I speak of are the history of the temple, its architectural intricacies & sculptures. These are my areas of interest. Nowhere do I talk about finances/trusts.I deliberately chose not to
Neither have we solicited funds from ppl on the internet. I shared the story post the restoration of the temple. Got many requests asking for donations. I politely declined every such request, because it was never about donations. That was not the purpose of the thread.
Coming back to the SDM trust, yes they helped immensely in restoration work. I even mention in my original thread how experts(not by name) were involved in putting back all the destroyed sculptures, especially the makara lining along the base of the temple.
Talking of credit or the lack of it, I credit even the masons who toiled away day & night, sun or rain. It was a collective effort.Seen standing there is my Grandfather's nephew. He's over 70. Spare a thought for him,who have given everything for the cause
Not one time, but multiple times I credit all the people involved. I might have not named everyone individually, but attaching malice to that is downright shameful & disgusting. Not to mention the earlier cooked up stories to defame the entire family.
I spoke & highlighted about the role of my family as a family member. To inspire many more families that yes stuff like this can be done if there is will & perseverance. No where I have said SDM or anyone involved in restoring didn't deserve credit for all the hardwork.
Honestly I never thought the discourse on the tread will fall to such depths due to few malevolent, jealous & petulant characters that the whole thing would be reduced to rabid bickering on credit.
It was a given that experts were going to be involved in the restoration process. Its a 900 year old structure that required delicate & precision handling, all of which I mention in my original restoration thread. Pls do check it out.
All of this was possible only because the elders of my family took the lead. I will say it a hundred,a thousand,a million times if need be. They are the ones who took the initiative, despite lukewarm response from fellow well to do off family members.

This does NOT mean am denying credit to others. The others came in much later. And honestly I or the family doesn't care who gets the credit. A temple that lay in ruins for over 500 years was restored. That is all that matters to us. That is all I have got to say. 🙏
