Guidance on #Cryptoassets
Feedback and Final Guidance to CP 19/3

July 2019:

Can cryptoassets be used to facilitate regulated payments
services? (Page 39)
Tokens can be used to facilitate regulated payment services such as international money remittance, and we have seen several use cases in the sandbox where unregulated tokens have been used like this to make things cheaper and faster on a small scale.
What this looks like in practice

The role of trust in banking:

In the current banking system, there are two types of trust involved. Trust in the asset and trust in the counterparty.

Fiat currencies are not backed by collateral. When a bank holds Fiat, it places trust in the govt. and CB that issued it.
This means a bank would be happy to hold $USD or $EUR,but less inclined to hold a volatile currency like the Zimbabwe Dollar or the Bolivar. his is problematic because this adversely affects daily banking services locally&internationally for people and entities in these countries
Similarly, when Bank A sends a payment to Bank B, the latter has to trust that the former will honor the settlement. There is always a risk that they won't, and this is called counterparty risk. This is the reason why the correspondent banking system is in place.

The future of #XRP markets

The Q2 Report from @Ripple gave us some insights on the long term vision for $XRP. As per the attached screenshot, the vision is to have XRP trade like the leading global currencies.

But what exactly does that mean?
The #Forex spot market is the most liquid market in the world with over $5 trillion daily volume & operates 24 hours a day,5 days a week. For XRP to be the definitive bridge currency of the world,it needs to be able to be traded in this market, floating against leading currencies
Forex trades are done with high precision in the quote prices. The lowest unit of measurement is a pipette (5 decimal points for most, 3 for $JPY pairs). The lowest divisible unit for XRP is a drop(6 decimal points). Let’s look at why this is important.

Does anyone remember the September 2018 pump of #XRP? the one that went on for 5 days, starting exactly at 12GMT, lasting an hour every time until Friday, when it went on for a few hours and we got the epic candle to 80c?

Let's look into it once more...
Many, including myself had theories about this being utility testing. However, with the release of the Q2 XRP report from @Ripple , I no longer think so.

First, let's look at the reasons why it cannot be utility.
There is currently only one usecase that puts real time buy pressure on the market and that's #xRapid. However,

-xRapid breaks up large sums into smaller orders
- Will have large amounts of payments between exchanges
- Will place orders on Fiat pairs
