Some surprising news in the #Ukraine morning Defence briefing. They claim they are still fighting in #Luhansk and have not lost the entire region yet.

It was thought other villages fell quickly after #Lysychansk last week.

#Russia's army was forced off the piece of land in the Black Sea a week ago by increased Ukrainian attacks, mainly from Caesar Howitzers

I understand #Russia has been rotating its troops this week so fewer offensives in some regions, probably a reason why increases have been less of late.

#Donetsk oblast has seen missiles rain down on both sides of the frontline this week.

#Ukraine's Regional Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko says Russian fire killed 7 civilians yesterday. Three in #Toretsk, 2 in #Avdiivka, and one in the villages of #Kodem and #Siversk.

There is clear worry in #Ukraine over the news about Boris Johnson. No need. All candidates will be strong on #Russia, especially if Defence Min. Ben Wallace, or my choice @TomTugendhat wins the election.

This smoke was seen rising in #Petrovskyi, a satellite town, just south-west of the city of Donetsk itself. It is currently occupied by #Russia.

#Donetsk authorities are claiming a 30 year old woman died in the shelling of #Petrovskyi (see last tweet).

Another area under attack is #Kuibyshevskyi district in the western part of the city of Donetsk.

18 people were wounded in artillery missiles attacks #Mykolaiv region yesterday.

Head of the Regional Council Hanna Zamazeyeva confirmed the details this morning, saying the injuries and shelling happened in #Bashtanskyi and #Nikolaev itself.

The buildings have been pounded, presumably by HIMARS, over the last 48 hours.

This is why #Ukraine still needs air defence (preferably fighter jets) to protect its land, its people, its freedom.

#Russia is literally jubilant at the demise of Boris Johnson.

However there will be no change in foreign policy. The UK is united behind #Ukraine, whoever the next PM will be.

However we should also reflect, even when Putin leaves/dies it's unlikely Kremlin policy changes.

Right now the Kremlin is once again pushing the #Ukraine/#USA/#Germany illegal biological weapons/experiments line. Obviously no tangible evidence.

The question in my mind, why suddenly do they try to shift focus again, especially with events in London. Bad losses? Rebellions?

During the war "we found documents" showing #Ukraine was studying Ebola, "yet they've never had a case there. So why would they study it?"

I'm not saying #Russia is desperately short of reserves, but credible reports they are now

1) releasing prisoners to serve with the Wagner private military company
2) offering free education for errr... "volunteers" in Donetsk
3) Forcing locals in newly occupied areas to sign up

#Putin today said that #Russia “has not yet started anything in earnest in Ukraine.”

“We do not refuse peace negotiations, but those who refuse should know that further along the more difficult it will be to negotiate. They want to defeat us on the battlefield - let them try.”

It's now known one person died and two others were injured in #Adviivka.

Earlier I showed a photo of a large building completely ablaze after being hit by some sort of munition.

#Ukraine looks to have struck another blow at an oil depot in occupied #Donetsk. This was also hit in yesterday's bombardment.
