Different year, same story as #Russia's terrorism continued right through the new year, but lucky for you my daily threads continue to document the terror and war crimes.

It's already been a terrible start to the day

So much happened in the last hour of 2022 as attacks intensify over #Kyiv. Earlier there was another massive missile attack.

Amid sirens and bomb blasts shouts of "slava Ukraini" and "Putin Khuilo" can clearly be heard in #Kyiv.

Explosions continue in #Kyiv

Missiles as well as drones have been used to attack #Ukraine's capital for the last couple of hours.

The air raid warning continues. So far air defence has shot down 23 targets in Kyiv.

In #Dniprovskyi district on the left bank of #Kyiv, fragments of a rocket were found on the roadway. There are no victims.

Now across the balconies, under curfew, defiant Ukrainians singing the national anthem.

This air raid warning in #Kyiv is still going on. It started last year!

Sounds similar to another shoot-down by #Ukraine's Air Defence over #Kyiv.

No evidence of any of #Russia's Iranian attack drones, or missiles, hitting a target yet.

More loud sounds on both sides of the river Dnipro in #Kyiv. Early indications are that air defence has shot down more drones.

#Kyiv's administrators now say they have shot down 29 targets in this 4 hour air raid.

The air raid alert in #Kyiv has finally ended after 4 hours 20 minutes.

Stay Strong Ukraine.

45 Iranian Shahid drones were shot down by #Ukraine during the night attack by #Russia.

Most were sent to attack #Kyiv. Authorities in the capital say they hit all 32 out of the sky. This time there is no serious damage.

On this UAV Russians wrote "Happy New Year"

This is the Taras Bulba restaurant in the centre of #Moscow.
The significance is that Taras Bulba was a cossack from #Zaporizhzhia in a story written by #Ukraine born Gogol

As well as the drones, some missile fragments were also found in #Kyiv

Part of the Svyatoshynsko-Brovarska metro line was closed earlier today after another bit of rocket was found on the track at 'Hydropark"

Two other fragments were found in other areas of the city.

Here is the result of the continued shelling of #Kherson overnight.

Authorities in #Kyiv admit "an infrastructure facility" was damaged overnight, without specifying location or extent of the damage.

However Head #Ukraine's energy company, Volodymyr Kudrytsky says it's unlikely the country will suffer blackouts in the immediate future.

It's now confirmed a man was killed in attacks on #Kherson. One other person was injured.

Meanwhile another low for #Russia, hitting the regional children's hospital. 7 shells are thought to have hit the buildings with more than 700 windows smashed.

#Russia's state news agencies say the Ukrainian hryvnia is now no longer in use in "the new regions" of the Federation.

They refer of course the the illegally occupied territories in particular #Kherson and #Zaporizhzhia where there has been strong opposition to using the ruble.

In #Russia the death's been announced of a fairly well known hip-hop artist at the age of just 30.

Andrey Raikkonen, who performed as EPP or EkhoProkurennykhPodyezdov (Echo of smoky porches) was found dead in St Petersburg. He recently cancelled a concert saying he was "unwell"

In the #Ukraine held part of #Donetsk oblast the towns of #Vuhledar #Kurakhovo #Avdiivka and #Toretsk were all hit on New Year's night.

8 houses were damaged in the latter, but no injuries were reported.

The illegal occupying regime says #Ukraine fired 25 122mm rockets from Czech-made MLRSs.

Not far away, the #Donetsk College of Industrial Automation was hit. The rocket ended lodged inside the auditorium according to local occupying officials.

In its daily briefing, #Russia claims it destroyed an hotel in central #Kyiv as part of targeting production, storage and launch sites for attack drones.

A #Ukraine footballer is sacked by his club in #Romania just days after saying "not all Russians are bad" in a local newspaper interview.

However, Oțelul Galați make no mention of this in announcing Yevhen Bokhashvili's departure.

In truth I think he just wasn't good enough

Sadly, a 22-year-old woman, one of the three seriously injured yesterday in #Khmelnytskyi has died of her wounds.

The news was given by mayor Oleksandr Symchyshyn.

It would seem a drunk installed New Year's fireworks, targeting residents in nearby apartment blocks.

Predictably, the 6th + 10th floors on Tatyana Snezhina St were soon ablaze!

This is unbelievably bad luck.

The 13yo boy was walking with his sister. Doctors say he almost died but just managed to save him.

The teen was in intensive care post-op when the hospital was shelled and windows blew out. He's now been moved to #Mykolaiv

Unconfirmed reports of repeated explosions near #Henichesk, which has become the Occupiers' regional "capital" in #Kherson since losing the real capital.

Locals say it looks like #Ukraine has hit an ammunition store.

Owner of #Wagner, Prigozhin is happy to show how on New Year's Day "everyone works" and they have to send bodies of their dead back home to #Russia.

Fires burn in #Skadovsk, in occupied, southern #Kherson region.

Not known if there were explosions, or where the fire is concentrated. Hoping to update, but info from the occupied zone is difficult to confirm.

A video's been released of CCTV from inside a building opposite to the AlphaVito hotel in #Kyiv when it was hit by a Russian missile.

This was the view from a dance hall, which had all its windows shattered.

Local Telegram channel RIA #Melitopol says there's been a blast in the town.
There are also unconfirmed reports of another explosion in #Henichesk.

Both towns remain under illegal occupation.

Yesterday's strike by #Ukraine in #Makiivka could have been a huge blow for #Russia.

Even some pro-Russia channels and bloggers are saying the school destroyed housed newly mobilised recruits. Some have mentioned 600 being stationed there.

Yet more Iranian made killer drones are buzzing around #Ukraine.

Already #Dnipropetrovsk and #Zaporizhahia regions saying their air defence has had some success.

More now on the potential wiping out of 100s of #Russia's recruits in #Makiivka near #Donetsk.

Drones from the south now heading towards #Kyiv as well as those from the north which first threatened the capital. This looks like being as big as last night in terms of numbers.

Head of the City Administration Serhiy Popkp says a downed drone has caused the damage in the city.

He says the wreckage fell in the Desnyanskyi district, damaging balconies and shattering window panes in a tower block.

There is no fire, no news on victims.

Authorities in #Dnipro confirm they downed the attack drone, no landings (yet) - though it's likely the Iranian mopeds were heading over that region, towards the capital.

#Poltava has also shot down another UAV.

One person reports "about 7 ambulances and 4 police crews" in one area of #Kyiv. Presumably where the allegedly falling drone has hit in Desnyanskyi

In #Kyiv a 19 year old man was wounded when the shot down drone fell into a block of flates.

He's already in hospital. No further injuries reported so far.

Looks like they may have had a lucky escape.

#Ukraine's Eastern Air Command says it has shot down a Kh-59MK2 high-precision guided missile, heading towards #Dnipro.

Also, in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions 6 kamikaze drones have been taken out.

Strong explosion near an airfield in #Russia.

This is reportedly at the Baltimor airfield just south of #Voronezh. Many locals writing about it.
