Putting the burden of this murder on DYFI, the leftist youth wing, is but a farce and will not help either cracking the case or maintaining the law and order situation. DYFI helped the couple in proceeding with the registration of their marriage and not vice versa.
It is true that Niyas, an ex-unit secretary of DYFI is involved in this murder. But he was not mighty enough to involve politically in this case, nor was such involvement promoted either by the party or by the police.
He and his relative who also had involved in this crime has been dismissed from DYFI, the moment, this news broke out. The youth wing did not ever try to support them by any means.
This ex-DYFI man is but the first cousin of the young bride. He is the son of her mother's brother. He involved in this abduction hatched by the bride's father as an aide of her brother. That is how honour killings work.

A fact hidden by the media is that the first accused Shanu Chacko and his father Chacko himself are Congressis. Shanu was an @IYC leader before he left to Gulf in search of a job. Not that it matters much.
But if Niyas' Facebook profile pic proudly carrying the ad-frame of CPIM's 22nd party congress can be used to picture this crime as conducted by the aid of ruling party, the political connections of prime accused Shanu can also be invoked. Better, keep that at bay.
Embedded Journalists like @AnandKochukudy who obviously have blocked me will never see such facts that are detrimental to their narrative of a 'red-terror'. Liberal journalists like @dhanyarajendran might also jump into this preset narrative 'believing' that it is true.

Just now, the 1st accused Shanu Chacko and his father Chacko has been arrested en route to Bangalore at Iritty. This is one thing that differentiates Kerala police from UP police or Bihar police where you cannot expect such a speedy action in caste violence. Remember Khairlanji?
While @CMOKerala @vijayanpinarayi has own security, the local police shouldn't have bothered to provide additional cover. But senior officers are in the habit of worshipping whoever is in power while CM cares a hoot. We are still in that colonial hangover.

ASI Biju who got arrested today in Kevin murder case has close Congress connections. Was he the man Friday of @Thiruvanchoor while he was the home minister? Heard that he was a pro-UDF functionary in police association during his time.
True that the enquiry is leaving no stones unturned. Every criminal deed of police is investigated. But what gives the police the guts to engage in criminal activities? Shouldn't the freewheeling of police be checked? Why should political interference be considered unwelcome?
My query may seem self-contradictory as the culprit’s connections with ex-Kerala HM has surfaced. I am advocating for the involvement of local party functionaries in such cases as they will have to hold the locus standi. I don't see every politician harmful.
When we deny their very existence and the police fail to acknowledge local party functionaries, money will talk. Those with cash would try to engage with police. That is what we saw in the paedophilia case in theatre and this very case.
