O, Canada!
1/ The city closest to our Adirondack home is Montreal. Want to eat great food? Head up there. It's a fabulous city! So’s exotic Quebec. So’s Halifax, a surprisingly beautiful harbor. So’s Toronto, which the UN rates the world’s most cosmopolitan city.
O, Canada!
1/ The city closest to our Adirondack home is Montreal. Want to eat great food? Head up there. It's a fabulous city! So’s exotic Quebec. So’s Halifax, a surprisingly beautiful harbor. So’s Toronto, which the UN rates the world’s most cosmopolitan city.
2/ We’re saving up for the great train journey to Alberta and Vancouver.
3/ We used to live in Texas and went often to Mexico--a land of marvels where I have lots of ministry partners and where I joyfully gain weight. Plus you can watch whales in the Sea of Cortez.
4/ God has this big commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
5/ Jesus, when asked by a nitpicker “Who is my neighbor?” sensed that the guy was really asking, “Who is not my neighbor? Who can I safely loathe?” So Jesus tells him the story of the Good Samaritan, a story about generous compassion from and to foreigners.
6/ America has been blessed with splendid neighbors. Loving Canada and Mexico is sooo.. easy! We’ve enjoyed two of the longest unfortified borders in world history. Now, with the wall and the tariffs Trump has insulted them both.
7/ Donald Trump is a really lousy neighbor. I listened to Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau after he learned that our wanton president had classified Canada -- CANADA! -- as a national security threat, so he could amp up his stupid trade war against CANADA.
8/ Canadians have fought and died alongside us in both World Wars, and in our battles with terrorism. Canada is our biggest trading PARTNER.
9/ What kind of jerk gratuitously wounds best friends? What are you made of if you back stab your most trusted partner?
10/ In the Bible, we’re told the name of one of the great demons: Beelzebul. The word means, “Lord of the Flies.” It’s a name that always made Israel’s farm kids giggle. Know why?
11/ I grew up on a farm. Where do you find lots of flies? Where do they swarm and feast? On a farm, the great adoring congregations of flies are to be found at the manure pile just outside the barn.
12/ The Lord of those flies is a pile of poop. Evangelical Trumpsters: who are you communing with? What are you feasting on?
