@Jack_Cant_Sleep @tweefactor @Stonekettle @c_porcel I’m sorry, relative of victims of Nazi genocide here, PhD in psychology, fluent in German, student of German history: this thread DOES contradict itself. Starts out with premise that ALL Nazis thought of themselves as heroes then admits later that some were already monsters /1
@Jack_Cant_Sleep @tweefactor @Stonekettle @c_porcel The Nazis created an ideology/mythology that attracted sociopathic & sadistic elements of the population to their cause, so they then had sanction to act out their aggression & sadism on the defenseless. The use of various forms of symbolism in the subcultures of Nazism../2
@Jack_Cant_Sleep @tweefactor @Stonekettle @c_porcel such as the death’s head, jackboots, Hitler’s language of dehumanization & violent threat, were all advertisements to & products of those elements that were already “monsters” & knew it. Of course the discourse of heroism & victimhood was the major public appeal but these /3
@Jack_Cant_Sleep @tweefactor @Stonekettle @c_porcel appeals to sociopaths were an important “face” of Nazism as well. And the sociopaths/sadists when confronted with the consequences of their deeds or turpitude of their intentions will quickly take shelter in a discourse of victimhood. This closely mirrors the rise of Trump /4
@Jack_Cant_Sleep @tweefactor @Stonekettle @c_porcel and the role of the collection of sociopaths & sadists we call the “alt-right”. /5
