Happy Feast of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, the Jesuit saint who died at age 23 after caring for plague victims in Rome. He is the traditional patron saint of youth and those living with HIV/AIDS. St. Aloysius, pray for all those who need your prayers today.

Dear friends: This week was one of the worst weeks in the church and in the Society of Jesus. By January, all of the US Jesuit Provinces will have released the names of Jesuits credibly accused of sexual abuse. This was the right and moral thing to do. 1/
It is part of the process of confession, which we hope will lead to healing and reconciliation. And to be clear: any credibly accused Jesuit today is immediately removed from active ministry. And any Jesuit who may have committed a crime is reported to civil authorities. 2/
But the release of names means that the stories of abuse will be read and cause further outrage and despair. 3/

Writing an introduction to a new book about my friend Cardinal Avery Dulles, whose 100th anniversary we celebrate this year, I came upon this interview with him, done after he was named a cardinal. What an amazing person. (Note his comments on division.)

Dear friends: I don't often recommend films but last night I saw the extraordinary "Happy as Lazzaro," on @netflix. A combination of an Italian neo-realist film and a parable, it hints at the stories of Jesus, St. Francis of Assisi and of course Lazarus.
It is an exquisitely made film, at once moving and challenging, clear and confusing, consoling and shocking. The religious themes, Catholic and otherwise, are throughout what I would say is close to a masterpiece.
It's one of the most profoundly religious films you will ever see.

This excellent @thegarance piece features an embedded video of an @actupny protest outside of HW Bush’s vacation home in Kennebunkport, Maine.

It’s worth watching and brought back memories of a lot of similar protests I attended.

We were so young.

Many of us did not survive.

Good Morning. I'm guessing we all want to enjoy good sex? So today, I want to share with you the many ways that you can minimise negative outcomes that can happen when people have sex -
First of all, I think we should acknowledge that in Ireland, our historical and cultural attitudes towards sex and sexual health have not been always healthy ones. I think many of us experienced shame and judgement for wanting intimacy and desire.
Let's look at having agency over your own body, the right to choose a sexual health strategy that works for you. There's no 'one size fits all' when it comes to looking after your sexual health, each person is different.

I want to share my memories of being involved with a club called 'Mother' @MotherDublin - I'm guessing that if you've been to @EPfestival @BodyandSoulIrl @DublinPride or Saturday Nights in Dublin, you have danced with us into the small hours? If so share
The genius of in 2011, Mother was to create a LGBT+ club that focused on good electronic music. Every club played chart music, but we wanted something different. We also wanted to create a house party vibe and the people who created Mother became a family.
I was asked to create the brand for the club and even then, I was heavily influenced by the reclaimed symbolism of the Pink Triangle - The Pink Triangle was used by the Nazis to identify homosexuals in the death camps during WWII - Later it become a LGBT icon

When I first heard that people living with HIV on effective treatment cannot pass on #HIV to sexual partners. I had trouble trying to get my head around it. Because it challenged the status quo and decades of beliefs I had about #HIV
I read up on the science behind the claim. In the PARTNER study, there were ZERO transmissions out of 58,000 condomless sex acts between people with HIV on effective treatment who had undetectable viral loads and their HIV negative partners. Undetectable equals Untransmittable
In the PARTNER 2, which was the extension of PARTNER and studied men who have sex with men, there were ZERO transmissions out of 77,000 condomless sex acts between people with HIV on effective treatment with undetectable viral loads and their HIV negative partners. #UequalsU

I want to share something personal with you. It's important to tell you, because it motivated me to have more compassion for people living with #HIV, pushed me to test regularly and to get involved with #ACTUP - It started with a mistake..
A few years ago, after a stable relationship had finished. I was feeling quite low. I went out with friends and tried to have fun. I got chatting to someone over a few drinks and before we knew it, we were back at my place. I wanted intimacy and passion back in my life
Generally, my prevention method has been to use condoms, but we got carried away. I didn't say anything about using a condom and neither did they. Next morning, mid-hangover the fear started to creep over me. Had I put myself at risk of getting #HIV?
