I have been working with woman who has been struggling with a number of #physicians & getting mixed messages re #prescribed #medication. She was pulled off a combo of meds that worked for her a few years ago. Since then has 1
struggled with accessing meds that worked & #stabilization of health conditions. In desperation to improve QoL reached out to #Clinic above. They prescribed w no issues. It was difficult for #patient to access at #Pharmacy. She then attempted to contact #physician re questions 2
& was told could not talk to #physician & then received this message last night. I am furious & looking for advice on how she should disengage & get back w regular #physicians, yet she is afraid they will terminate care based on her actions & she is fearful she did something 3

One of the most exciting parts of this work is seeing my clients imagine themselves as someone who is well. #Bipolar disorder can supersede someone's sense of self, making them believe their symptoms are their personality. 2/8
However, I see the opening of possibilities and improvement in function as they start to dream about doing other things. Some of my clients choose to stay on some medications, but usually, there is a lowering of the dosages and discontinuation of many. 3/8

One of the most utterly heartbreaking things I had to learn when an illness I had no idea about was destroying my life was “there’s no point going to a #GP without a fucking itemised list of goals. #chronicillness #disabled
You need to give them the service you want them to refer you to, often with an actual consultant’s name and sometimes with their secretary’s email address. And you need to phone back next week to make sure they’ve actually put the referral through. And keep phoning to chase it.
(If you, like me, are #autistic and find phone communication nightmarishly difficult, you need to suck it up because no GP seems remotely willing to communicate with patients by email).
