Seeing a lot of talk about "manning the barricades" and similar against a new justice who would strike down Roe. Guys, there are no barricades. Harry Reid tore them down. The norm that a minority can filibuster justices they hate died years ago, and there is no way to stop this.
That said, I don't know that Roe will be overturned; Roberts likes to take baby steps, not giant leaps. But this is a valuable lesson about political norms: if you don't enforce them when you're in power, you lose their protection when you lose it.

Republicans, take note.
You cannot kinda sorta partway destroy a norm. Once Reid ended the filibuster for judicial appointments, it was clearly not going to hold back any Supreme Court nominee liberals hated.
At least we can end the elaborate theater of SC confirmation hearings.

"This *Doe v. Maid you speak of ..."

"Roe v Wade."

"Ah. Hmm...don't seem to recall...contract case?"

"Abortion, as you must know."

"Well, since I've never heard of it, I can't possibly say how I'd rule"
