President had several calls today - none of which, apparently, were with pranksters - on a variety of topics, including discussions w/WH counsel McGhan on the Supreme Court vacancy
The pranksters who got through to Trump evidently didn’t tell Trump their call was being recorded, which is illegal in many, but not all states. But the person being recorded (Trump) without his knowledge or consent was in an airplane
Theoretically, anyone can record President Trump’s private calls anyway - if recent reports that he often uses an unencrypted private phone are accurate. If so: a staggering security breach

The Kavanaugh confirmation hearing has begun, and Democrats ask for the hearing to be postponed for a multitude of reasons — including the new 42,000 pages of docs turned over last night (Harris) and the 100,000 docs withheld w a claim but not assertion of privilege (Whitehouse).

In looking at the Rob Porter hot-mess, the "interim security clearance" business is very disturbing. Having worked at the White House -- including for the staff secretary -- this feels to be a pretty telling breach.
First, gov't jobs eligible for Interim Security can only be designated "National Security/ Non-Critical Sensitive" or "National Security/Critical Sensitive." An Interim Security cannot be given for a Special Sensitive job (which requires Top Secret/SCI)
It's hard to imagine that the person who manages the paper flow to the Oval does not have TS/SCI level clearance. That would require the NSC staff to navigate around the staff secretary, rather than thru him/her.
