okay so today we went to the protest for a bit then went to Brooklyn Bridge Park because my therapist is there, Kristin met me there and I passed off a sleeping Izzy, had therapy, then we went to the pier six splashpad
which was INCREDIBLE. had a pizza on the pier and a peroni and some soft serve and izzy had her first froz fruit, then walked home
izzy did NOT get sunburned and she peed a bunch in her last diaper so she’s not dehydrated, and I put her air conditioner in
HOLY SHIT Kristin just said “she didn’t cry for very long after I put her down, she’s probably completely nude” and I opened up the camera app RIGHT at the moment where she removed her own diaper with a flourish while grinning at the camera

ahh so at like 5:30 Izzy got her sandals and started thrusting them at me so I was like, uh, do you want to go for a walk
so I changed her out of the pajamas she had worn since her nap and put a dress on her and headed out for a bit while Kristin made dinner, and I was like - you know what, it’s free First Saturday at the Brooklyn Museum, a seven minute walk from my apartment, lets go see an art
so we go and look around some of the first floor exhibits and I pick up a program and am blown away to see that Flor de Tolache, a mariachi band we listen to a bit, is going to be playing in an hour

Now, here's a thread about how Gwen's character arc, starting from her debut appearance, reflects a steadily increasing disdain for Pete
So, fresh out of Seanan McGuire's excellent Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider, we have this panel, which reflects the PRESENT state of Gwen's feelings about Peter Parker.

The Peter in this panel is not 616 Peter (indeed, he does not even love Gwen romantically) but she's pissed at him
(I'll explain a LITTLE of what's going on in this panel later on, but people should REALLY just read the comic. It came out on Wednesday. Buyyyy it.)

Anyway, no matter how you look at it, this is a REALLY abrupt departure for a character who regarded HER Peter Parker as a BFF.

protest events are officially underway in Portland, as about 60-70 people march behind this Democratic Socialists of America banner on their way to counterprotest a Patriot Prayer/Proud Boys-related “him too” protest in downtown Portland. follow along at this thread for updates
Schrunk Plaza, federal property where the him too rally will be held, is now a restricted access area. part of Chapman Square, where many of the counterprotesters will congregate, is closed for the protest. im told by police nearby that despite the crime scene tape theres no crme

Today I went to get my bridesmaids dress altered for @cljohnst’s wedding. While changing, the woman tailor told my guy friend who came with me, “I hope she doesn’t gain weight because [the dress is] really tight. You better control her.”
And I got a text from him while in the dressing room: “She had me print your name and phone number and asked if I’ve married you yet”
And then she charged me $90 for the alteration.

Today was cloudy, chilly as well as a bit windy, so it took me a while to get myself out of the house and on my bicycle. I biked one of my favourite routes and ended up at Friendship Park, which is right by Tuusula Lake. Here you can see a fountain.
It’s... not that pretty tbh. Photo from the north end of Lake Tuusula, from Friendship Park in Järvenpää. There is a fountain in the lake. You can see the other side, there are lots of evergreen trees there.
Lake Tuusula has been historically significant for the community of artists living close by in the early 20th century. Eero Järnefelt, Jean Sibelius, Juhani Aho all lived here for some time. That’s all rather boring, but I do love the lakeside view from the road.
I’m not all that good with words, so what I’ll try to do this week is share what I’m seeing instead.
On my way back home I stopped by this little trail close to home. Even though I’d rather stay indoors on rainy days, I do love the way greens become even greener when it’s cloudy. A lush trail in a little recreational woodland. The greenery is very vibrant, because of the cloudy weather.

Today I went to a protest. The protest was on Trump's child detention policy and the shittiness of ICE. Appropriately, it took place in front of the building that houses ICE's San Francisco office, on Sansome Street in the coldest part of town, the Financial District. /1
A noontime wind whipped off the Bay and through the dark streets. Many in the crowd - between 700 and 1000 - difficult to tell because there was a lot of coming and going - were bundled up or shivering.
The scene was solemn, the chants strong but cold. /2
Unlike every other San Francisco protest I've been in, this one had no joy. That sounds strange, but, when you are out on the street with others, united for or against some cause, there is warmth in solidarity. You don't feel alone, you feel hope, you feel joy. /3

#Today's story to #EndFamilySeparation Four months ago, Dad and 4-month-old entered at the Texas/Mexico border and requested #asylum. Dad and child were immediately separated and the baby put in ORR custody. #FamiliesBelongTogether
Dad was detained in a #Texas detention center where @RAICESTEXAS consulted. Dad accepted a deportation to be quickly reunited w/ his infant child. However, the Dad was deported & NOT his child. The now 8-month-old baby has been in ORR custody for 4 months. #EndFamilySeparation
The Mom and Dad now have once weekly Skype calls with their 8-month-old baby. That's right, folks. They Skype with an infant. #EndFamilySeparation #FamiliesBelongTogether
