As with last time this happened — buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/j… — DOJ has made it very difficult for people, including journalists, to figure out exactly what has been withdrawn and whether any subsequent documents or policies are controlling.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions Is Withdrawing Obama-Era "Guidance Documents" About Affirmative Action —> buzzfeed.com/zoetillman/att… from @ZoeTillman
Weird. @TheJusticeDept putting out a vague news release with incomplete information — leaving reporters to search around for random links to find out what DOJ is actually doing — leads to confusion.
This is ridiculous. DOJ put out a statement announcing that they were rescinding 24 guidance documents. Now they're like, "Well, by 'rescinded,' we just meant there was a more updated version already in place for some of these."
It's beginning to read to me like Sessions or someone high up at DOJ told them that they needed a second set of withdrawn guidance, and so people tried to figure out how they could get the number bigger to look like they were doing more.
