2/ Ontario has a huge mess to clean up after the Wynne government. Trudeau’s plan to bus illegal border crossers to homeless shelters in other parts of Ontario is playing a shell game with human lives, and does nothing to stop the flow of people across our border.
3/ Taxpayers in Ontario need to ensure that immigration is planned and orderly. Trudeau’s requirement of Ford to help prop up his failure to close the loophole in the safe third country agreement is unreasonable - the fact that Wynne was even considering it is one of the many
4/ reasons voters rejected her government. It is not compassionate or fair to allocated hundreds of millions of dollars, if not billions, over time, to enabling people to illegally cross our border when the safe third country agreement should be enforced across our entire border.
5/ Ford will take heat for this decision in the Liberal chattering class, but it’s the right call. It is ridiculous to accept a roadmap that has escalating unbudgeted costs, with no plan for long term focus on matching immigration needs with the economy, integration support, etc.
6/ @fordnation and @MacLeodLisa just told Ontarians that he isn’t going to allow them to pay for Trudeau and others virtue signalling on our borders - that #welcometocanada and declarations of sanctuary cities need to have costed, budgeted plans if they’re going to be made....
7/ and that it’s not acceptable to do things like that just for a photo op, because it affects taxpayers and human lives and dignity. I cannot support this decision strongly enough. @fordnation is forcing Trudeau to do better. Well done.
