Here is a thread about some rude protesters who probably should have just stayed home and written letters which of course is just NOT what Americans do. 1/
The first is a shoemaker who led riots, hung stuff from trees and set it on fire. He also followed the dude he was protesting to his house and pushed him to step down. We named a beer after one of the people he hung out with. 2/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loyal_Nine
and these trollops? they WALKED IN THE STREET ALONE. Ladies do NOT do that. They stood outside of a dude's house for days on end with obnoxious banners. 3/

but the poor ladies! all they want is to keep THE GAYS away and someone throws a pie in her face? How rude! 4/
but a lot of this is about the truly rude action of interrupting someone's meal by daring to bring politics into things. I get it. Sometimes you just want a sandwich with your white friends. 5/

and talk about obnoxiously sitting in places you weren't supposed to. these people SAT ON THE FLOOR AND LEARNED STUFF. Others where trying to just walk by! So disruptive! 6/ upi.com/Archives/1985/…
and directly confronting politicians when they're hanging out with their friends and you aren't invited? Well, it happens to everyone. 7/

but sometimes these rude people just come in, make their point and leave which would be fine, except for when leave a mark...or glitter. 8/
and it's true. sometimes even the most peaceful protest can inspire violence. but as with these cases, it's not the protesters inciting violence. it's the people trying to silence them. 9/ mtsu.edu/first-amendmen…
all this is to say that if you are bothered by the rudeness of protesters, you may stop to consider that it's pretty darn American of them. 10/10
one quick addendum. The common thread of all of these efforts? OVERTHROW APATHY. The extreme disruption can inspire people to speak up and not be afraid of their own power and their own voice. It's pretty clear from our history that by embracing it we have done some good.
