We have become a nation of armed border guards and an interior federal police force - intent on purging the country of as many poc as they can. I represent women as old as 81 years. Children as young as 6 months. Dozens and dozens of separated mothers and detained children. 3/
I defend pregnant refugees, and young single women, all fleeing a violent society. They, and separated mothers, have one thing in common in my legal world of defending asylum seekers from deportation - ICE will not release them on bond. 4/
This is yet another message to the world dripping with cruelty. If you dare use our asylum laws to seek refuge in America, we will jail you, and keep you in jail for months and even years, while the process plays out. If you have children with you we will pull them from you...5/
...and jail them as well. In the meantime, a federal court has ordered ICE to reunite 4 of my clients with their very young children today. Yet nada. No word to my client or to her lawyer. Zip. Trump is legally in contempt of court. END
