Amazing work by @CityLab & @Tanvim mapping all the contracts that local governments have with ICE. It's typically elected local officials who decide these, & "there are several diverse, Dem-leaning counties signed up to jail large numbers of immigrants". citylab.com/equity/2018/07…
The article's lede is a decision by Williamson County (a Texas county, north of Austin) to end a contract with ICE after a 4-1 vote by the county commissioners. Commissioner @Terry4WILCO led the way:
By contrast, the article lists some of the more Democratic jurisdictions with the highest numbers of detained immigrants: Essex County (NJ), Hudson County (NJ), Bergen County (NJ). Orange County (CA), San Bernadino County (CA), Prince Edward County (VA).

A basic obstacle to using elections to hold prosecutors accountable & to overhaul their practices is that elections rarely feature multiple candidates.

As you can see on this map, nearly all Wisconsin counties have had **at most** 1 contested election for prosecutor out of the past 3 election cycles. (And this includes primaries as well as general elections.) appealpolitics.org/2018/will-anyo…
And this isn’t a pattern that primarily concerns small counties: in Wisconsin’s 10 most populous counties over the past three cycles (so a total of 30 elections), there were just four instances where the winner faced even a single opponent.

Media should revise how it reports results. Saying "100% in" in CA & AZ because 100% of precincts report that small fraction of votes they plan to report on election night, when it's is known & reported that millions remain, is misleading & it enables some ppl to further mislead.
For instance: CA counties are transparent about just what ballots remain. So while the count is slow, you could integrate figures in presentation of results. The NYT says "100% reporting," when as shown here you can quickly log into Orange County's website & see ballots left:
Also, we've literally been going through this multiple times a year every other year for a while now, so I'm not sure why the "100%" is still a thing at this point.

New Hampshire: Safiya Wazir, a one-time refugee, ousted state Rep. Dick Patten in a Dem primary. But Patten attacked Wazir for being an immigrant & a mother, & he endorsed Wazir's GOP opponent. Yesterday, Wazir won. She's heading to the state House. #overlookedelectionstakes

NEW YORK – Officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) arrested 65 during a 5-day period, ending July 20 in New York City, and on Long Island.
During the operation, ICE’s ERO arrested 65 individuals for violating U.S. immigration laws. 64 of those arrested, had been previously removed from the United States and returned illegally.

1) I've been working on BF'88 for a while, and I think it's time to share everything I've learned about gamefeel so that when this project is done, someone else can do something even cooler. First, none of this would be possible without the amazing work by @jwaaaap & @tha_rami.
2) Seriously, the first step is to watch the art of screen shake and do literally everything in that video.
Everything described is in BF'88, and having those tips available was crucial for the further explorations I've been doing.
3) I'll try to keep this as game-feel focused as possible, but it will necessarily dip into sound design and visual fx. We're going to start with one gun in BF'88, the Null Mass Cannon and dissect everything about it.
