You Are Not Alone.
The deepest loneliness is the kind you feel surrounded by loving people. The strongest sadness is the kind you feel around people full of joy. I've been shocked at the number of people taking their own lives, and recently had to come to..
..terms with the loss of Bill Hamel from one of my favourite electronic groups Fatum. All this has left me wondering how it's possible so many of us feel that lost, so out of touch, that we see no other solution to our problems.
We all go through highs and lows in our lives: it's what makes us human and gives us perspective. In today's social media world, we are all bombarded by displays of the positive, strong, fun, successful side of life.
At the same time, many of us, at times, feel lonely, lost and helpless. It's easy to think your troubles are uniquely bad, feel the distance from your situation to others seemingly perfect lives.
The last thing you'd want to do is drag the happy people around you down by opening up about your troubles. But the very act of admitting your vulnerability helps others open up about theirs.
I am personally recovering from my second burn out in my life, in part I went that way due to the way I'm wired, partially due to the pressures of artist, personal and family life, and also due to past trauma.
I am incredibly grateful for finding help through Hoffman Process - real group therapy - that I went through in January, and that has given me so many great tools for helping me cope with myself, my stress and my anxiety - things that I still find challenging.
But it's also been a journey of little victories - I'm learning to accept myself as the vulnerable being that I am.
Us sharing our stories won't bring back loved ones we already lost, but may inspire others out there to open up about their own struggles.
The mere act of talking about your struggle helps you overcome your demons, and hearing other people's stories helps you realise that we all have a dark side and feel lonely and lost from time to time.
If there's one thing I'm really proud of, it's how AnjunaFamily has already helped many of us through difficult patches, including me. So reach out to your friends, tell them your vulnerabilities, help them open up about theirs.
If we can help one person out there overcome what may seem a helpless situation, restore a sparkle of hope where it feels lost - it's been worth it.
There's been a lot of talk about Mental Health, but I prefer the term Mental Fitness - it's something we can train, work at, and get better at. And often, it's even more fun together. So let's share the bad, and the good - @paavo_s
