One drug, Nexavar, now costs ***$18,670 a month*** for a typical patient, up 51% in the past three years.
AbbVie Inc., maker of Humira, the best-selling drug in the world, has raised prices 52% in the last three years via five separate price hikes.

(Humira is not a new drug.)
These prescription drug price hikes date roughly from Trump's announcement he was running for president. The data shows they continued after he took office.

Yesterday, I started a discussion about how our focus on #USMLE Step 1 was hurting both undergraduate and graduate medical education.

It’s gotten a lot of attention, probably because I highlighted a comment from the CEO of the NBME that touched a nerve for a lot of you.
Beyond that quote, when I read the article, what struck me was this:

The CEOs of the NBME and FSMB expressed numerous concerns about adverse effects of making USMLE Step 1 pass/fail...

...but loss of revenue to the @NBMEnow was not mentioned.

The tax on Social Security income is a blatant and unfair attack on senior citizens. While the GOP was cutting taxes sharply for the rich & businesses, seniors were left out. Worse. Many senior citizens now pay a higher marginal tax rate than do younger people making $165k.
Traditionally SS income was not taxed The income it comes from was already taxed while working For many, this is still true, if their SS benefits * outside income are low. When FDR introduced SS, taxing it wasn’t considered, as it was a means to get the elderly out of poverty.
The average SS benefit is $16K per person per year, or $28k per couple. Income (including SS benefits) above $32k per couple is taxable..When Congress added the tax of SS benefits in 1984, only 10% of seniors paid taxes on it.

A few years ago, after a stable relationship had finished. I was feeling quite low. I went out with friends and tried to have fun. I got chatting to someone over a few drinks and before we knew it, we were back at my place. I wanted intimacy and passion back in my life
Generally, my prevention method has been to use condoms, but we got carried away. I didn't say anything about using a condom and neither did they. Next morning, mid-hangover the fear started to creep over me. Had I put myself at risk of getting #HIV?
