It takes a tremendous strength for someone to admit and acknowledge that they have any kind of mental disorder.

And it takes more strength to just tell someone about it.
For people as strong as that, we as the one who are listening to them, trusted by them, should not make fun of them in any way.

"Orang gila, mental."
"Attention seeking la tu."
"Poyo, setakat Google, dah mengaku ada itu ini."

Enough is enough.
They just need someone to listen. Someone without judgement and someone without stigma.

Did you know, for people with emotional and mental problem, being heard of what's in their heart when they talk about it, somehow can make their problem become more manageable for them?
If we cannot provide the help for them to be better, don't let ourselves become the reason for them to become worse.

It’s far better to leave them struggling alone, than be with them but actually make them suffer more with our biased treatment.
What if our own family have that stigma against us? They don’t even allowed us to go seek treatment because in their mind,

“Jangan over sangat. Semua orang lalui apa kita lalui..”

Pernah jumpa juga suami yang tak benarkan isteri pergi hospital.

I have an opinion in this matter
Just go see a doctor/psychologist without your family consent (if you’re above 18).

By law, you have every right to be treated as a citizen of Malaysia.

By adab, well, screw that.

Sama je kalau kesihatan mental semakin severe sampai muncul suicidal thought.
If you’re under 18, I believe you’re in school.

Therefore, go seek treatment through counselor in your school.

Counselor don’t have expertise to deal with mental illness, but at least they can help you with your emotional issue.

Kalau tak mampu, dorang akan rujuk ke hospital.
Same goes if you’re still studying in the college/university.

If you’re afraid to go Klinik Kesihatan or public hospital,

Ask a trusted friend to accompany you.

Or, go see counselling service in your university first 😊
If you’re working, there a few options.

1. Go to Klinik Kesihatan, to be referred to public hospital

2. Go to private Psychology center, if you have the money

3. If you want free counselling service, you can seek one from Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat
