There is a rather large space in between thinking Vote Leave broke the law and branding the referendum result invalid.
The punishments should be more severe and the reputational damage to those involved should be catastrophic.
In particular they should be held in disgrace for refusing to cooperate with the Electoral Commission investigation, lying about it, and then claiming it was pursuing a political agenda. This is grotesque Trumpian post-truth politics.
But Remain cannot and should not win by kidding itself that some additional unauthorised spending caused the referendum result.
Yes the vote was tight. Maybe - who knows? - this even swung it, although I doubt it. But it was only close because millions of people felt the status quo was so shit they were willing to risk catastrophe.
And that needs a bigger answer than just saying the referendum was advisory or the campaign broke the law.
