Wanna know how hard it is to register voters in Texas?
It's way harder than in California. In California, you can stand in a mall or whatever with a clipboard and registration forms, and then people fill them out, and then either you or they mail them to the county. Done.

In Texas, you can only help register voters in the county in which you reside, and you can only register people who live in that county. So you can not volunteer to help other counties register voters, and if someone from outside the county wants to register, nope.

Before you're allowed to hand people registration forms, you have to take a ONE HOUR IN-PERSON course from the county, which are not always conveniently scheduled or located.
Texas does not encourage voter participation. They want to make it hard on people. This is on purpose.

(I looked into this a couple years ago when I was thinking about going to Texas to help Texans register to vote. Turns out that would have been illegal.)
Of the roughly 28 million people in TX, only about 15 million are registered to vote. That's disgraceful.
