A thing I am dealing with now is studying cancer in test tubes and watching my father fight cancer in real life.
I know there are many scientist and doctors who experience this very same thing.

It was and remains a watershed moment that knowing more doesnt always mean surviving more.
As someone who treats cancer objectively for most of my waking hours, I attend lecture after lecture. I hear from medical oncologists, epidemiologists who lool at population level cancer outcomes

Today I'd like to talk about jet streams, atmospheric turbulence, and climate change.

Why do we even have jet streams? At any fixed altitude, the north-south temperature difference between equator and pole causes the eastward wind to increase with height (wind shear).
You can check out the current positions and speeds of the jet streams interactively at earth.nullschool.net. (Change height to 250 hPa to move up to the altitudes where they typically blow the fastest.)
Jet streams move around from one day to the next and vary in strength. They play a crucial role in steering weather systems as well as aircraft (which enjoy the tailwinds on eastbound flights, but try to avoid the westbound headwinds).

Why does this climate change impact on phenology matter? Because it means that the regions TODAY that are best suited for the grape varieties planted there may not be the best in the coming decades
So what can we do about? Lots, it turns out.

Track 1 is "Lazy Sunday", Small Faces. Impossible not to know for a Brit of a certain age but very listenable, and it's no surprise to find that Johnny Rotten cites the Faces as an influence on his vocal style.
Track 2 is "The Plastic Age", The Buggles (1980). Never heard it, very good indeed. The vocals flip between sounding like Suggs and Jon Anderson, and the whole thing goes down very nicely.
Track 3, "A Girl Called Johnny", The Waterboys. Just a bit dull for my taste, although this might be a case of Seinfeld Is Unfunny; so influential that all the bands who copied them have soured me on the sound. Nothing terrible though.

Good morning Tweeps. Up since 5 am. Felt the urge to go do some work. Actually went downstairs and almost stepped into my office then forced myself to return to bed even if to just lie in bed. Trying to resist this overworking.
The other day I felt really exhausted, then of course decided to do more work and...I swear, I felt better after a couple of hours, this is when it really hit me, the overstimulation is getting out of hand.
I really can’t wait for December where I hope this lifestyle is coming to an end & I can return to *normal* functionning before I do myself some damage.

Aside from that who’s appreciating a more balanced existence?

Good evening folks. My name is Lew Jobs and I'll be hosting this week. I'm Inuvialuit originally from Tuktoyaktuk NWT. I'm a #60sScoop survivor. The name I was given at birth was Allen Craig Gruben. I was taken at birth and given to a white family at 3 weeks of age.
I'll start with a bit about myself. I was born in the Hamlet of Tuktoyaktuk in 1967. I was taken at birth and put in a receiving home. At 3 weeks of age, I was placed in a foster home in Ft. McPherson. This placement ended up as my permanent home.
The family I was placed with were teachers. He was German, she was American. He was just out of university and started his career in the NWT. They were told that I needed a home. That I was not wanted. They were told this by the social workers.
