1. Economics on the national level is something that is extremely difficult to understand -- even for experts. It's multi-layered with a plethora of vectors. Results can't be gleaned from 'quick turnarounds' - despite the emotional peaks and valleys of the stock market.
2. Like it or not, the choices and seeds planted by the Obama administration created the platform for growth that set the stage for at least the first year of DT's administration. Did DT take some gambles that created the growth we're witnessing? Sure. But, is it sustainable?
3. Currently, we are at a point with questionable outcomes. A growing deficit. The benefit of the tax cuts reaching their fruition. Impending trade wars. Ever increasing healthcare costs and dipping wages.
4. We have a labor shortage. Why? DT's war against immigrants has a downside. While one might expect wages and benefits to increase to competitively draw workers, the fact is these companies aren't prepared to do that for unskilled labor.
5. The 'bonuses' the GOP touted after the tax scam passed have little to do with overall wages. We have witnessed the failure of 'trickle down economics' and we are witnessing it again.
6. Sure, there are companies you can lift up as positive examples, but, for the most part, companies have passed along their increased earnings to their shareholders and not their employees. And let's take a look at the costs for this economic gain.
7. We have allowed lasting damage with our allies. We have removed ourselves from trade agreements that will set the stage for future decades. We have rendered ourselves undesirable, untrustworthy, and irrelevant.
8. If you're still supporting DT because of perceived economic growth - you have swallowed an incapacitating amount bullshit and moral compromise. To make it worse, if you're truly working class, you likely have little to show for it.
9. Deregulation is probably the biggest factor in DT's 'success'. Yes, removing regulations opened economic growth for some companies. Never mind that these regulations existed for reasons of environmental and humanitarian health.
10. This is akin to saying let's remove the surgeon general's warning off cigarettes so they can sell more product. Does it help the economy in the short term...sure. In the long term? Clearly not when you consider the medical costs over time.
11. So, we give the biggest tax breaks to the rich. We do nothing to help wealth inequality. We ridiculously wait for the 1% to rain money down on us. We watch more and more of our money going to healthcare and pray DT's high risk gambles pay off.
12, But, of course, that's not the only cost nor the only risk. It also requires one to chip away at everything we are as Americans. He's fought to ban Muslims, ban transgendered troops. Separated, orphaned and caged children. Lied over and over again.
13. He cavalierly has affairs and pays off women. He berates our press. He denigrates our allies and lifts up dictatorial monsters. He seeks to turn his followers against our own intelligence and law enforcement.
14. He seeks to destroy every system of checks and balances we have on our own government and policy. This isn't about economics. This is about ineptitude at best, and the destruction of our democracy at worst.
